I think the show is telling us they're both pretty terrible in different, probably incompatible ways. I don't get why Don gets to be forgiven for his many faults because he's a product of his time, but Betty is always just a bitch. They're both products of their time! And on top of that, he's a lying liar who lies and fingerbangs women to demonstrate power over them, and she's a bitch. And a horrible, horrible, horrible mother.

Exactly! Episode 2 felt like a bunch of half-finished thoughts. It was like the writers said, "We really want to use Bye Bye, Birdie, Diet Pepsi, an aging father/aging New York dichotomy, and cool green grass as powerful symbolic elements, but we're not totally clear on what all those things symbolize. Fuck it, let's just shoot what we got and let the audience figure it out."

Don't get me wrong; I appreciate content that doesn't give me all the answers on a silver platter, and Mad Men is usually pretty thought-provoking. So far, this season just feels disjointed and semi-coherent.

The time to pass judgment on Megan Fox is not now. That time will come in 15-20 years when she makes her first denial of or admission to receiving "rejuvenating" plastic surgery. If she's straight up about it, we will be allowed to love her. As for now, she is too willing to think that Diablo Cody is smart for me to be unbiased.

I went to Niagara Falls last year. Hate to be a dick, Common, but I found it pretty hard to enjoy that amazingly beautiful part of 'god's creation' with all the tacky as hell tourist attractions surrounding (and in some cases blocking the view of) the thing. Niagara Falls only really made me think about how people are sometimes remarkably, unbelievably stupid in their pursuit of money.

I think it says a lot that basically every blog I read that discusses this show was on board with the "Gramps is going to touch Sally" idea. Can't an old man just be a buddy to his emotionally needy granddaughter without being a secret kid toucher?
