I've got to agree with you on 30 Rock. As much as I enjoy 30 Rock and love Tina Fey, sometimes its like "Okay, Tina Fey, I get it, you are adorable." It took me a few episodes to really start enjoying it for just that reason, whereas with something like Arrested Development or even The Office, I was on board circa episode one.
