Memorable show (mostly because of the rain), and I loved the Tom Petty cover, but I swear Andrew W.K.'s guitar wasn't even turned on, and I was watching very carefully...

more importantly, green is DEFINITELY NOT a primary color, seeing as its a combination of blue and yellow. Jimm, u ever pee in a 200 Flushes toilet?

I usually hate it when people do this, but I gotta say...serious downgrade from last year, in terms of headliners at least. A lot of good stuff down the list, but I think it was hard to beat last year (Bob Dylan, Bjork, Killers, Wilco, Arcade Fire, Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys). I love both Led Zeppelin and Alison Krauss, and I dig Raising Sand, but I really dont think Plant & Krauss deserve the #2 spot on that poster...their record is a little downtempo to be a great headliner, no?

Much agreed Ryan. For what it's worth, why do people think they are entitled to get this music free in the first place? Unfortunately I think that "because we can" is the answer, though it's not the right answer. I think piracy law sucks, especially when you're staring at millons of dollars in "free" music floating around p2p sites, but these artists spend $ to create their product (yes, even those not tied into the major label hierarchy) and deserve be compensated just as much as anyone else with a job (albeit a totally sweet job).

There is a great place for word of mouth marketing, especially in the age of blogs, and the labels are only just starting to come around to this. The Web Sherriff appears to be just another poorly mounted attempt by the labels (as usual) at stemming the illegal downloading of copyrighted material, which (unfortunately) deserves to be paid for. There are all sorts of marketing tactics like releasing the first single for free which may be very worthwile, but they need to be mandated by the property-owners, and not the fans.

Anyone else psyched to hear "Genesis" by Justice in the background of the new Escalade commercial? As long as it's not too "corporate" for everyone's tastes, I think its great that acts like that are starting to have access to that kind of exposure.
