Is it bad? I actually want one for Christmas! I recently bought the first season of Friday Night Lights on iTunes. Would be nice to watch season 2 w/ the choice of streaming on TV/laptop/iPhone.

"The reviewer conspicuously avoids the word 'I', and is presumably addressing Gabe or Mark Twain, when opening with the claim that 'you' can take the piss out of anything. The reason for this wording becomes clear in the actual review, which boils down to 'OMG it was about a sled LOL oh look kittens.' Ironically, the one-word conclusion seems to sum up the review more than the reviewed. In the reviewers defense however, the piece is longer than 140 characters, which is not likely a literary style the reviewer is familiar with."

It was a long-shot hit. Danny Boyle is a fine director, but he has a spotty success record, and this was an untested genre.

My point regarding Indian pay scales was meant to illustrate that absolute numbers can be deceiving in international settings, but also to demonstrate that it's foolish to suggest that the money was not a substantial potential boost to their quality of life. It would probably be more appropriate to compare their salaries with those of first time film actors in India, but I just don't have that information. Comparing them to Dakota fanning is just silly. Keep in mind that Fanning made the union minimum before she became a star,and that was in an entirely different marketplace.

You make a decent point about their becoming a target, but I think it is unfair to accuse Boyle of bad faith in hiring them. He didn't know that the movie was going to turn a profit, much less become an international sensation. It's also not fair to say he put them right back where he found them. His control over their destiny is very limited.

It's not that it is bad, it just does so little for so much. Can't record TV, very limited number of codecs, no support for DVD or anything. It's more of a delivery system for iTunes. If all your media is purchased from iTunes, then it is good for you. But there are many better options for media center (Boxee/XBMC) that add features like support for all types of codecs, DVR-capabilities, and even play DVDs/CDs for cheaper.

Tech nerd out. Music nerd in! How about them Japandroids? My choice for album of the year.

Album release was 2008, single release for "In the New Year" was 2009. But I agree, for a band like the Walkmen, singles mean absolutely nothing. It is a 2008 song, I mean, what hip NYE party didn't play it last year.

Well, I wouldn't describe Fallon's personal brand of stumbling and giggling as low energy and lacking affect. Fallon had a more "hyena on a meth binge" method of ruining sketches. January just gave me chills down my spine, cause looking at her face was like looking a vast expanse of whiteness and nothingness, extending forever to the horizon. I felt very cold and like no happiness or life would ever occur again. It was a lot like Montreal in January.
