On Stereogum

It depends on what you wanted to get out of it. I think a lot of people went in expecting a normal concert with distinct songs and the biggest hits from each album. AC didn't give that. They rarely stopped playing, most songs bled into each other, overlapping for minutes at a time, and songs that usually run 6 or 7 minutes were 10, 12, maybe 15 minutes. Fireworks was about three times as long as it is normally.

"The crush" occurred pretty much 100% of the time - especially Friday and Saturday (so hot and crowded!). I enjoyed myself, the sets were great (loved Friendly Fires, Passion Pit, Crookers, Animal Collective... I could go on here), but most of the time standing in the crowd was like being at a frat party full of eighteen year olds. The crowd surfing may have looked "majestic" from the sidestage, but your perspective might change a little when you get a knee to the face during "Daily Routine."

I might be wrong about this, but I think Nikolai was the only one of the Strokes not born into a lot of money.

Jersey City really isn't hard to get to, it can just be annoying because of the limited transit. Taking the PATH to exchange would have been much faster. Then you could take the light rail (and news, the view is the same from the pier in jersey city). If you wanted to the avoid the light rail, you could walk from exchange or take the PATH to grove st. and walk. The walk is pretty healthy, but you could have avoided the long ferry and light rail lines. The ferry can only take 100+ people at a time, which means you have to wait much longer than the train - also you're paying a lot more.

I saw them both in the airport waiting to board a delayed flight to LA. Maybe it wasn't so clear on stage, but it was pretty obvious to me then that she was his daughter.

I personally like Coldplay, especially the first two albums. I saw them in 2002 post Rush... and they were fantastic. Chris forgetting lyrics is very disappointing to me. And out of tune guitars? People play free shows all the time - they're still shows. not sound checks.
