The Muppets hosting the Oscars might actually get me to watch the Oscars. Just being real…

Oh my god, am I too late to talk about my creepy Carl Sagan obsession? Just ask Kornfeld, he can tell you.

I HAVE A TUMBLR AND EVERYTHING

I was just about to say it looks like him, too… I’m honoured we’re on the same wavelength.

Favourite song is One More Cup of Coffee. Incredible. Album is too hard to choose… Desire generally has a lot of fond memories attached to it though. My dad was gonna call me “Dylan” after him if I was born a boy. #personalbobdylanfacts

I’m going to see him play in my hometown in a few weeks actually!

I pointedly did not watch it; I spent the way watching NASA TV for updates about the final launch of Endeavour before a heater problem meant they had to scrub the launch for at least 72 hours. So disappointed. WORST DAY EVER.

I like weddings, but I very much do not like monarchies, so me and this stuff just don’t mix. I can’t sit through all that pomp and circumstance without a cauldron of indignant rage starting to bubble inside of me. I know it’s very fairytale cinderella princess just look at the pretty dresses and forget life to most people, but I just can’t get into that… guess I’m too much of a heathen socialist republican. Someone online said “Just enjoy it and let it distract you from real world problems for a while,” but I just can’t, because to me monarchy is a real world problem. #boringandseriousgum

My housemates are getting up at 11am to watch it (it’s 06:30am here now, yes I have been up all night, WHATEVER) and I’m like god damn, y’all, we’re Irish! We should be the country LEAST interested in this bullshit! Stop irrationally ruffling my patriotic feathers!! Whatever, I’m going to spend the entire day in my college’s library pointedly avoiding it anyway, SO THERE.

Besides, something way more interesting is happening – the final launch of the space shuttle Endeavour! WOO!! Who wants to watch that with me instead?! Anyone? Anyone… ? *hangs head in nerd corner*

I just want to say that Air Horn Sound Effect is among my favourite Sound Effects. My number one favourite is Orchestra Hit Sound Effect, I wish Orchestra Hits would follow me around all day. That is my dream.

Does anyone remember “Playwitch” and “Playwizard”? Just, uh, wondering.

Also, it’s not as small as I was actually expecting (even though yes, it’s obviously small as hell), is that weird? I’m not sure how small I was expecting it to be… I’ve always lived in really small houses and rooms, so maybe that’s why, but obviously nothing to that extreme. Maybe I just wasn’t expecting it to be so well organised? Or to have a window? A whole window, y’all!

I don’t know, but either way I could actually see myself functioning there. Going slightly, subtly insane as the weeks progressed, perhaps, but functioning!

To be honest, I’m kind of impressed.

I don’t have anything to say except that Daniel Craig is attractive and I would totally do him, even if he was in a dress. Especially if he was in a dress.

Me too, his flushed face is cute… I think I actually enjoyed that ad a little TOO much. And then I scrolled down and saw everyone’s outrage and felt bad.

Not only did I do this, but I still continue to do this.

I dunno if I’m hitting the right reply button or not (noob alert) but WHATEVER, full steam ahead!!

Haha, that sounds pretty standard to me. I live in Cork, and naturally any event of note is held all the way up in Dublin because the rest of the country doesn’t actually exist, so it usually takes me 4-5 hours to get there by bus. You get used to it… you pretty much have no choice, such are the lack of transport options in this country. Hnnnghhh arghhhh DON’T GET ME STARTED

I’m actually joint majoring in History and Art History, just to try and get maximum pretension potential out of my degree. The Art History part is always the one people want to pick at, though. When you say plain old “History” everyone immediately assumes you want to be a high school teacher and nothing else (because what else is there? Haha, history.)

A few more people and we could almost get a full class going, as inevitably small as they always are. We just need a guy who constantly interprets everything as religious criticism regardless of the actual subject matter and we’re set!

It’s at least nice to know I’m not alone!

Honestly world, I don’t need you to constantly remind me my degree is pointless, it does the job well enough on its own already.

+12Posted on Dec 7th, 2010 | re: Operation Watch This: Problem Solverz (97 comments)

When I get asked what I study and reply “art history,” people immediately question me and want me to “prove” why modern art is art. They never ask me anything else, ever, even though art history covers a lot of stuff and modern up makes up but a small area of it. In fact, they’re not even really “asking” me, just giving me their unprompted opinion. “It’s not art if I/my baby brother/my kid could do it!” “Abstract art isn’t art!” etc.

I like a lot of modern art, in most cases, but the public idea of what it is just makes me not what to talk about it anymore, because no one really wants to listen. Guess that means I’m not as dedicated to art as I should be… I dunno!

+13Posted on Dec 7th, 2010 | re: Operation Watch This: Problem Solverz (97 comments)

Stuff like this makes it really difficult to explain to people why I decided to be an art history student.

I sort of want to see this mostly because I really enjoy seeing Anton Yelchin in front of me saying and doing things attractively and generally looking like himself, which is an activity I encourage. Unfortunately, I’m turned off by the entire rest of the movie. They should cut a Gibson-less version for those of us with weak dispositions…

Depends on whether you make the unfortunate decision to travel via Bus Éireann or not…
