As a matter of fact, I deactivated my facebook account prior to leaving those comments. I think facebook has possesed videogum, if not the whole site then at least on my work computer. BASTARD!
Also, Id like to state for the record that Im trying to get my monster account but facebook will not let me log out of videogum at work. Its evil, I tell you.
I think now is the time to admit that Ive been praying to marry Natalie Portman since I was like 4….Does that mean we can annul her actual marraige? Its not too late! Right guys! Right?
I guess to clarify, we dont engage in those actions because we understand that while we would gain attention for such activities, the attention would be negative. No one wants to be noticed for simply acting ridiculous, or at least not most people. He was basically whoring himself out for the media by doing alot of the things that he does (as do many celebs) and I have no sympathy for it.
I get that, but Cruise is aware of the spotlight on him. He makes millions of dollars every year, Im not going to lose any sleep on pointing out that he engages in some strange activity. What one does in their bedroom is honestly none of my business and, for the most part, neither are their personal activities. His divorce with Katie Holmes? I think its shameful that people get off on their misfortune. Thats their business. But you and I dont jump on couches while being interviewed on national tv. In fact, I bet both of us could get some media recognition doing strange things at inappropriate times. He knew there would be a reaction, he wanted publicity. He got it.
Well said Gabe. I feel like Im listening to my (racist and homophobic) father talk when I hear most people talk about Tom Cruise potentially being gay. Its as if his ‘crazy’ actions in the spotlight allow us to openly ridicule him for whatever reason. While Im totally on board with bashing him for acting like a crazy person, his potential homosexuality is no joke. If he is gay, Im sure thats a personal source of great pain and suffering and I find it no laughing matter.
Brad Pitt…I mean really.
Both of these responses make me very happy. I can now go on with my day, satisfied with this interaction.
I hope this isn’t a trick.

“madequins”
Sorry that one, but a million upvotes to this. while i dont necessarily agree that constant thrill seeking is a particularly wise way to approach life, I also don’t have the stones to say that theyre wrong (much less deplorable) in doing so. its unequivacly true that they are human and that their lives are probably just as meaningless ours, but whats wrong with the seeking something that makes them feel larger than their physical confines?
also, i think id shit my pants if i walked on a tight rope.
am i the only one who doesnt remember a popular crowd existing at 7? does this mean that i wasn’t popular? what’s happening’?
they emit*. my computer loves me and moves my cursor….often.
this is how i feel about black holes and quasars, particularly black holes. they and emit no light and can literally destroy anything in its path. yikes.

i think anyone could probably say a similar statement to any number of your comments, winwood.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that gus has kids? i remember hearing him say that he was cooking a particular dish for walt (when he talked to walt at his house in season 3) because the kids dont like it and he never gets to cook it. am i making this up?

Id just like to say that this is one of the reasons that I love videogum. Not only are the most of the commenters more thoughtful than on almost every other website, the community also consists of alot of very smart people educated in a variety of fields. Badideajeans was making a well thought out and cohesive statement regarding her (well informed, it would seem) opinion of blogs. Whether or not you agree, jeans did not bash Emily in a personal fashion, nor was she senesationalist regarding the effect ‘listicles’ can have on the quality of a blog. Her opinion was deriven from professional experience, which is more of a warrant than most on the internet can claim. Being that this is a blog she clearly values as a source of media consumption, I find this to be moreso constructive than purely critical and I find that such an environment is typically encouraged in the comment section of vgum. Its that environment, and the people in it, that has made this one of my favorite websites to visit over the last several years (I dont comment all that often).
Way to go badideajeans, you and the other monsters are whats good about the internet.
