Why does all spam have to be in broken, idiomatic English? I’m sure their response rate would increase a hundred fold (go from 1 in 100,000,000 to 100 in 100,000,000) if they had a native speaker proofread all their crap before unleashing their spambots.

I’m fascinated by this whole situation, much like the rest of you probably are. She didn’t get like 160MM+ views by creating something totally bland and boring, she did it by being a trailblazer in half-assed productions. Besides, don’t you think it’s crazy that people are actually fighting over the rights to this song and video? RB better bow down and thank/damn god for the internet.

Also, it’s Friday.

The issue was that ARK Music Factory put up the video and claimed the copyright on the video/song, which Ms. Black contested. She has apparently demonstrated her claim on the copyright to YouTube’s satisfaction, so she was able to upload her own version of the video on her own YouTube account after taking down the existing version.

Also, I think there is a lag between when you view a video and it is counted as a ‘view’, so that’s why there are currently more dislikes than views.

If you think kids today don’t like the original Star Wars (movie and trilogy), then you must not know many kids today.

I also really don’t think it was a form of nerd pandering. More like ‘people who like adorable kids’ pandering. I dislike Star Wars, do not consider myself anywhere near being a nerd (username and being a member of this site not-withstanding), and I thought this was a great commercial.

But congratulations on not being tricked into buying a Volkswagen, you must be very proud.

I think you’re missing the forest for the trees, here. The most important part of this conversation comes near the end, where Mr. Cox says, ‘I’m out of office in three weeks’. IOW, it’ll be somebody else’s problem then. Firing the moron might cause him to file suit for wrongful dismissal based on the legal ‘citations’ Cox was talking about here. Shrivell is obviously nuts, and it’s very likely he would file such a lawsuit, no matter how frivolous. Since Cox is peacing out in three weeks, why would he really give a fuck, especially if he’s avoiding any legal issues that will follow him around once he’s out of office?

In case this is just a coincidence, my boy Cormac kind of agrees with these assessments:

His list of those whom he calls the “good writers” — Melville, Dostoyevsky, Faulkner — precludes anyone who doesn’t “deal with issues of life and death.” Proust and Henry James don’t make the cut. “I don’t understand them,” he says. “To me, that’s not literature. A lot of writers who are considered good I consider strange.”
