George Clooney To Jargon In Jargon For The New Jargon Of Jon Ronson's Jargon

In casting news today, George Clooney has been signed on to star in a film adaptation of Jon Ronson's The Men Who Stare at Goats. From Variety:

George Clooney will topline, and his Smoke House partner Grant Heslov will helm, "Men Who Stare at Goats."

Pic is an adaptation of British journalist Jon Ronson's book about the U.S. Army's First Earth Battalion, a unit that was to use paranormal powers. Title refers to the notion that one can kill a goat by staring at it.

I always forget how good at writing Variety is. I love pics when George Clooney toplines. Anyway, The Men Who Stare at Goats is a good book. It's Jon Ronson's exploration of secret military projects to develop skills like mental telepathy in an effort to win wars without lethal force. Unfortunately, it does not deal with the gay bomb, or the militarized superdolphins.

But more importantly, if you're bored today, you should really listen to some of Ronson's pieces for This American Life. They are some of my favorite stories:

"Who Takes the Class Out of Class Reunion"
"The Trajectory and Forces of Bodies in Orbit"
"How Britain Nearly Saved America"
