Hip Rock: Let's Get Almost Imperceptibly Physical

One of the great things about the internet is that no matter how long we live, we will never reach the end of videos from the past that kids find in their parents' garages while they're home from college and upload to YouTube. Like Hip Rock:

The best part of that video is that it contains no actual exercise. I mean, bloggers who work from home on their couches get more exercise than that (especially on "walk like a penguin" Tuesdays.) Well, almost more. (Via FeyFriends.)

I've got a couple of questions
Why did they find it neccesary to wear shirts, but nothing to cover downstairs?
Does Hip mean cool, or the anatomy? Because I don't see either being used
What made that woman decide she was a qualified aerobics (or Hip Rock) instructor?
Why do I have to check my heart rate at the end? Was it supposed to have changed?
Oh, so many things for me to wonder ("Oh I love grape jelly"- Mixed Nuts)

Btway, it's nice to have you back Lindsay!!!

I just want to know how a person can achieve impossibly enormous thighs like hers.

That's not so much hip rock as it is the hokey pokey. Also slightly terrifying.

Oh my god. My Mom HAD this video. The whole thing was taped on like a cruise ship and the women were all supposed to be extremely fat to show how healthy extremely fat people could be (of course before the Type 2 diabetes frenzy). In highschool my friends and I used to watch it while eating ice cream to make ourselves feel better. There was a really frightening part where a woman with huge brown curls and great streaks of mauve and purple makeup on her face would lay on the ground and do hip thrusts.

Shudder.
