The Wackness: Harold And Kumar For Smart People?

Apparently, Harold and Kumar are the official mascots of this website (see: post title). How did that happen? Stale. We are stale. If we were all in high school, Videogum would come back to its locker and find STALE written on it in shaving cream. Anyhow, what is not stale, or might be stale, it is hard to tell, is this trailer for upcoming independent film, The Wackness:

I thought there wasn't any nostalgia to this shit, Method Man.

I don't know what to think of this movie, though. The short synopsis on Wikipedia is not really appealing:

"The Wackness" centers upon a troubled high school student named Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck), a teenage pot dealer who forms a friendship with Dr. Jeffrey Squires (Ben Kingsley), a psychiatrist and kindred lost soul. When the doctor proposes Luke trade him weed for therapy sessions, the two begin to explore both New York City and their own depression.

Ugh. Six Degrees of Shut Up. I'm pretty sure we all didn't see Charlie Bartlett for a reason. And the rumored Ben Kingsley, Mary Kate Olsen kiss is NOT a selling point. Plus it looks a little Roll Bounce-y, Roll Bounce of course being my Funny Games (i.e. I broke the DVD over my knee.) But the trailer has its charms, and at the very least, someone finally managed to make a stoner movie without Guillermo Díaz. So there's that.

Speaking of the Stoner movie discush...EW had a GREAT article about the profitability and stoner movie genre in the new issue (Tina Fey on the cover). It was a great read! You guys should check it.

this movie is starring josh from the nickelodeon show "drake and josh." he was the fat kid, josh. i also sat across the aisle from him on a plane and eavesdropped on his coming of age story that he was telling to the lady next to him. he was wearing one of those bright bathing ape hoodies covered in ice cream cones and diamond rings, and i thought he looked and sounded nice.
