Spooner: Another Loveable Loser Indie

The trailer for Spooner, starring Matthew Lillard (!), which will be playing at the 2009 Slamdance festival:

So, yeah, it's one of those movies. The ones where there's a loser guy who doesn't know what to do with his life, and then he meets a manic pixie dream girl who, for reasons never fully explored, gives his life a purpose. And that is fine, because I like those kinds of movies. Say Anything was one of those movies. Eternal Sunshine was one of those movies, but with a metaphysical element. And Eternal Sunshine is the best movie of the '00s. And it's good to see Matthew Lillard again, for real, so Spooner Is Just Fine.

Yeah, I'm down with the manic pixie girl movie more than I should be, but this one looks not very promising. The plot is now crazy overdone, obvsly, so you got to bring something new to the table and this has nothing interesting to it at all. And Eternal Sunshine was one of the best movies cause it showed what happens after the first week with MPDG. But go Shaggy! You are A-OK.

And he's playing Lillard's dad...again?! Did SLC Punk take a detour through Indieville?

Every day is better if Matthew Lillard is in it.

Clementine from Reno 911? Sweet. But I still nominate for Worst Movie of All Time.

Eternal Sunshine was not like what you described. Clementine didn't give meaning to Joel's life at all.
