From The People Who Brought Us Helvetica Comes: Objectified

thumbnail icon: From The People Who Brought Us Helvetica Comes: Objectified

Everyone who has seen Helvetica, the documentary that's "Behind The Music, but for a font," loves it. (Maybe not enough to get an "I <3 Helvetica" tramp stamp, however. It's still a font.) So Helvetica fans were thrilled last summer when filmmaker Gary Hustwit announced his next documentary, Objectified, about industrial design. And now there's finally a trailer for the movie, which comes out this Spring. Expect a lot of non-designy people (like me, for instance) to walk around obnoxiously noticing aloud the psychology of the man-made objects around them at least through August:

If you haven't seen Helvetica, an hour-long version will air on PBS tonight.

Ooo, I am excited! I am still trying to get my co-workers to watch Helvetica as a group activity, but for some reason we keep watching Mel Brooks and Coen brothers movies instead. And on that note, it's time for those of us on the west coast to start to work.

El Ten Eleven! They also provided the music for Helvetica. And are awesome.
