Jim Carrey And Ewen McGregor Are Not Gay

I Love You Phillip Morris trailer, you guys:

Perfect. Someone is finally willing to combine an outrageous story about frivolous lawsuits with the most offensive actors-in-gay-face caricatures since I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. This is being billed as Catch Me If You Can meets Brokeback Mountain? Billing FAIL. Even if that were true that sounds terrible, but this is obviously worse than that. Also, when is Hollywood going to realize that just because you can combine two previously uncombined ideas doesn't mean you should. I mean, I can make a pickles and candy pizza but that doesn't mean it won't make everyone barf.

I don't have a super foul mouth
But the first thing I said when I saw this trailer was "Horse shit"

As a gay ("that's right, A GAY!"- Zach Galifianakis) I wish there could be a movie that just involved gay characters without having to be super stereotyped up. I mean, there are some (But I'm A Cheerleader, DEBS, Kissing Jessica Stein, Imagine Me and You, etc) but a mainstream one would be just great.

Um, ever heard of a movie called THE BIRDCAGE?

I'm talking in the past 5 or so years. And like, Academy Award level films. Not that The Birdcage isn't great, but when you see Nathan Lane's name on a marquee you're first though isn't "OSCAR!"

Leaving out the bizarre content of the movie, what a weird, awkward trailer.

I just don't get it. It's a comedy right? Because it had the opposite effect on me. I was cringing the whole way through. I'm not sure if it's the storyline or just the fact that it's
Jim Carrey and Ewen McGregor. It seems like a really awkward mix between an apparantly true love story? and a dark comedy. Particularly because of Jim Carrey.
Plus it just seems like bad timing too with all the Prop 8 business and the fact that this country sucks right now in the equality department. They are playing such outragous caricatures of gay people, as you said perfectly, "in gay face." Like Jim Carrey was pretending to be straight, but now that he's out he has to act retarded?
I don't know, it just looks really poorly done.

Well believe it or not it's actually based on a true story. http://www.amazon.com/I-Love-You-Phillip-Morris/dp/0786869038

Yeah, okay, but it's Ewan, not Ewen.
