Are The Coen Brothers Hiring?

Joel and Ethan Coen's Burn After Reading red band trailer, you guys:

On days when a new picture surfaces on the internet showing Britney Spears eating Cheetoes with her vagina or proving once and for all that Amy Winehouse has a disease that turns her face into pure sadness, you can almost start to feel bad for celebrities. While anyone in the public eye is open to scrutiny or whatever, I think we're kind of overusing that argument for why we should be allowed to report on their testicular hygiene or their divorce face as they leave a coutroom. The public has a right to know avoid thinking about their own sadness! But on days when a movie like this surfaces, where everyone seems to have just made up a character loosely based on themselves and hung out with their buddies in front of a movie camera all day, it's hard not to get lifestyle envy. In the vein of Ocean's 11, Ocean's 12, and Ocean's 13, this looks like it was probably even more fun to make than it is to watch. It might just be the combination of Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Those guys always seem like they're having so much fun. I just made that up. No one has ever said or thought anything like that before. Everyone always tiptoes around the glow of ease that surrounds them. Very original. We are doing it, with the whole breaking open new vistas of understanding, guys.

these redband trailers, where were they and what were they doing until 2008? i feel like this is some sort of kinda-industry term that is being used *everywhere* to sound up-to-the-minute with coverage but we never really got to vote on if it's a useful term or not. there are examples of this but i can't be bothered to think of them right now.

The VHS of Needful Things had a redband trailer for animal/horror film Man's Best Friend. I remember watching it as a kid. Back to back with Powder. That was a great day.

The IMDb plot summary of Man's Best Friend: A dog turns from man's best friend into man's worst nightmare as he attacks everything that moves.

So there you go.

must be an mpaa thing. it has not been approved for all audiences by the motion picture association of america. it's only for the special ones that can hear swears and see naughty bits. or maybe it just means that the trailer will feature brad pitt in a red shirt. was he in man's best friend? i should check.

That looks like a hell of a lot more fun than any other Coen movie I've seen to this point.

I'm finally excited for this now that I know Sledge Hammer is in it.

I'm a big fan of the Pineapple Express red band trailer, although they just refer to it as restricted. I like "red band"...it makes me feel all tingley and edgy inside

The movie looks like a blast, but I'm extra-super-secret thrilled that they used a song by Spirit in the trailer. Doesn't mean it'll be in the movie, but there's a chance. Damn, that was a good group who deserve a little revival.

I'm sorry, for a moment there I thought this was Stereogum.
