The Ultimate Argument Settler: The Top 6 Fight Scenes Of The Past 6 Years

thumbnail icon: The Ultimate Argument Settler: The Top 6 Fight Scenes Of The Past 6 Years

As Lindsay pointed out in last week's Friday Fight, I love any movie with fighting in it. This is mostly true. Movie fights are great, and it's surprising how few good ones there are. Hollywood, more fights please. They make any movie better. Think of all the horrible movies that don't have fights. Pay It Forward? No fights. That's a current reference that makes sense to use. In Her Shoes? Not a single scissor kick. More like In Her Lame! Anyway, after the jump I have collected my six favorite fight scenes from the past six years. Obviously. This is a totally definitive list that I've used science to create, so don't bother arguing with it, because that would be arguing against science. You know, the thing that KILLED GOD.

6. Batman Begins

5. Kung Fu Hustle

4. 8 Mile

3. The Bourne Ultimatum

2. Ong Bak

1. Tom Yum Goong

Honorable Mention: Spider-Man vs. Venom.

I could have made this whole list just of Tony Jaa clips. It would be every second of all his movies, in no particular order, and it would be my last post because who cares about anything else. I'll tell you this, Tony Jaa as America's Vice President would bring peace to the Middle East in the form of a jumping roundhouse elbow to the throat. Just think about it, Presidential Candidates.

Classic scenes I must admit, but this is the fight to end all fights...

The movie is called Old Boy, it is Korean, bow before it's supreme majesty.

And my bad for not properly digesting all of the comments before posting my own. Nice reset, Seann. Great minds, et al.

Wrong Gabe, Pay it Forward had a fight scene, it was just very short and included only one stabbing of a small grade school child.

Even if it's out of the timeframe, no fight list is complete without They Live.

Um, Gabe...you're forgetting the best one, Viggo Mortenson in Eastern Promises. I'd link to a youtube clip but there's too much [PENIS] for that family-friendly place (read: baby throwing). Anyway, this is the fight scene to end all fight scenes. Shame on you.

Oh, that is a pretty good one, but a) there isn't any video online of that fight, and this is a visual rather than textual list, and b) nudity is too distracting. I like to have the focus remain on the punching/kicking.

I have always been partial to the one-shot, side-scrolling fight scene from Oldboy, but that's just me.

Not only does Tom Yum Goong have that awesome fight scenes, but it also doubles as one of my favourite things to eat for lunch!

Shaky cam and obvious CGI shouldn't count. Batman Begins and Bourne Ultimatum might have had fight scenes in them, but I couldn't make out a single one because as soon as the action started the camera went ballistic. Kung Fu Hustle was just lame.

You forgot that 8 minute long fight sequence when he is going up the stairs. There isnt one cut during that scene. He had to do it all in sequence.

I promise you that I did not forget that sequence. Like I said, this whole list could just be Tony Jaa.
