Dear Black Entertainment Television, You Win?

Dear Black Entertainment Television,

I just wanted to follow up with you after my letter this morning in regards to your "Cease and Desist" letter. Per your request, I've gone through all of the videogum posts in which a B.E.T. show is discussed and/or promoted and removed the disputed video content, to be replaced with the following image.

And as promised, I will no longer discuss your station on this site.

Congratulations, and good luck with the slow decline into national irrelevance.
Gabe.

As your lawyer (or just as someone who's taken one communications law course twice), I feel like you're baiting B.E.T. and that's a risky thing to do. But as your reader, I say fuck 'em.

Wow... What a bizarre act of strong-arming on their part. I didn't even know what College Hill was until your coverage. Still didn't watch it, but just sayin'. The current crop of TV execs that don't embrace blogs blows my mind. If you don't want it on YouTube, fine. Just produce your own embeddable clips a la Comedy Central. It's hard to revel in it because this sort of behavior is going to cost jobs down the line, but sadly they reap what they sow.

who's cute when he's mad.

Serious though, no more College Hill for me. And I mean that, BET. NO MORE. This season was extra bad, anyway.

They really get the web at BET, don't they?

Lars Ulrich told B.E.T. to not trust the series of tubes known as the internets.

Because I hate myself, I watched "Under One Roof" last week for the first time. It was the most uncomfortable, appalling thing I have seen this side of Fox News.

It's the type of show execs greenlighted in the 80's/'90's out of spite to keep the NAACP of their ass. It's so bad, but I hesitate to call it racist because it *is* so terrible, and isn't able to be taken seriously by any standard.

It's actually just mean and lazy.

You now have a new fan due to the foolishness of BET. Apparently, they have nothing else better to do with their time than to attack a website that was bringing attention to their marginal shows (instead of, you know, trying to invest in better programing). Sadly, the only thing I watch on BET is Comic-view, knowing full and damn well that it's nothing but a bunch of clips of old re-runs.

I tried to watch Under One Roof, but it's too insipid to get through without feeling ashamed for trying to give it a chance. I thought that, surely, it couldn't be as bad as the commercials make it out to be...except that it is that bad.

Under One Roof isn't even on BET-it's on MyNetworkTV, but I suppose they all look alike to you, racist.*

*I know, I know-you're not racist: You love The Wire, right?
