Stop Boring Hugh Laurie!

thumbnail icon: Stop Boring Hugh Laurie!

Did you know that Hugh Laurie, star of House, M.D., is not actually American at all? He's from England, where he was a famous comedian! OF COURSE YOU KNOW THAT. Everyone knows that, but because talk show hosts can think of nothing else to discuss with Hugh Laurie other than his provenance, Hugh Laurie is stuck having the same boring conversation in every interview. Someone on YouTube who is probably Hugh Laurie's hero has put together a well-done reel illustrating this huge national crisis, in which poor Hugh's frustration is palpable.

Craig Ferguson is actually messing with him ("You have a British motorcycle") but the rest have no excuse. (It was interesting to learn that the hardest word to say in an American accent is "murder," though.) Next time you see Hugh Laurie in an interview and they do this, take a drink or something. Poor guy.

This really highlights how boring and crappy celebrity interviews are. Also why I haven't watched late night TV for a long time. And why hasn't Hugh gone on Conan? He was the only one I used to watch and now I don't even have him in my life.

Hugh Laurie's been on Conan. He was on right before he hosted SNL late last year. That interview was actually pretty funny.

Fact: Most guests before going on a talk show, give the hosts talking points with which to work, in order for said guest to lead in with a story.

So yeah. We get it, Hugh Laurie. You're English. Enough. You're boring the hell out of youtube username Ironie85.

Craig Ferguson WAS messing with him, but he also practically made the same interview THREE TIMES. That is just baffling, I mean I love Craig but come onnn.

Looksie, the English are a bunch of dirty S.O.B.s and the Scots are finally deciding to take a stand. Let's applaud this exercise in liberty for our fellow brethren. Also, of course murder is the hardest to say with an American accent. Did you not witness how weirdly they pronounce the word in "Hot Fuzz?" I mean, really now.

We Amerikans sometimes forget that there are other countries out there, so we need to reminded...and often.

When I first saw this in my reader, I thought it said "Stop Boning Hugh Laurie," and I was confused.

The fact that he is just as entertaining as an American lead as he is playing second fiddle to Rowan Atkinson is testament to the man's genius. Just a damn shame the poms couldn't outbid the seppos in order to bring back Hugh...

It's so neat to see how method actors work. Clearly, when House is angry, Hugh Laurie's thinking about all the interviews he's done.
