SNL Just The Funny Parts: Hey, It's Everybody!

thumbnail icon: SNL Just The Funny Parts: Hey, It's Everybody!

Has anyone talked to Justin Timberlake? Because he didn't show up for his part-time job Saturday night. (Groan.) The SNL finale was fantastic! Will Ferrell was in top form, and the show copied the 30 Rock finale by getting too many guest stars to keep track of, including Tom Hanks, Norm MacDonald, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Anne Hathaway, Elisabeth Moss, and, for some reason, Artie Lange. After the jump, the five best parts, including two that NBC hasn't put online.

5. The Cheney And Bush Cold Open:

4. The Ghost Of Harry Caray visits Weekend Update and goes off the rails:

3. Introducing Mark, from the creators of Jeff:

2. Everyone shows up for "Goodnight Saigon." (The best part is Paul Rudd pretending to play the violin):

1. Jeopardy. Duh. Best non-Palin sketch of the season:

Tom Hanks can still do it live! The only person who felt missing was Tina Fey, but she's probably on some much-deserved vacation and didn't want to go to there.

It was a pretty good episode, and the hey, it's everyone! song was fun enough to overcome the fact it wasn't that funny. Jeopardy taught me Tom Hanks is terrible at prat falls. The thing I loved the most was the return of Harry Caray. Angel bucks! Manny as the Predator! Asian Dead Pete Rose!

And Lindsay, no. Mark was not one of the funny parts.

I thought for sure Cake Eatur's favorite part would be Artie Lang.

I thought the 'Funeral' sketch was pretty funny. By the time Mya Rudolph came on singing about nachos to the tune of Amazing Grace I began to wonder if someone had secretly drugged me.

Really? No funeral sketch? The Maya Rudolph rendition of Amazing Sasquatch was worth it, not to mention Kristen Wiig's asthmatic old lady with the animal in her floorboards and reward of the flesh... C'mon!

Goodnight Saigon was great despite Hathaway's (silent) overacting.

I don't know. After witnessing Casey Wilson's violent overacting in that skit, I found Hathway pretty subtle by comparison.

I loved the "Mark" sketch... especially when last night's Family Guy did the same gag and it was anti-funny. 24 hours late, Seth. You're fired.

It's a pretty clear sign that they were ready for the season to end when the first sketch after the monologue is just a re-run of something (as in, the same video, not even a re-tooling of the same concept) from NINE YEARS AGO.

If they'd done that "Goodnight Saigon" bit 30 years ago with appropriate stars of the time, it would have been one of the all-time great SNL sketches.

Never question the presence of Artie Lange. I love the guy who just says "Yeah, Artie!"

Anyone else wish Harry had called Seth "Norm" the entire time like he did to Colin Quinn?

saturday night live is entertainment foremost. despite how much humor is put in it (or as of late, how much we WANT humor to be in it), i thought goodnight saigon was appropriate. very good clip, very entertaining.

best show of the season by far, maybe its the variety of guests, or that Will Ferrell was involved, but almost perfect.

Didn't the Jeopardy sketch feel so special? everybody there... great variety TV

...some real laughs were there(especially the monologue)but so much of the rest of it was stale, predictable, whorish etc etc...god forbid they take advantage of having Will there to try something new and have it work...Jon Stewarts the Apple guy and SNL is the PC and we all know it...the REAL audience for SNL that is...

So let me get this straight--Timberlake and Fallon doing the Barry Gibbs Talk Show is a lazy attempt to rehash old material, but Jeopardy with Ferrell is comic gold?

Jeopardy was boring shit.

1. We can't keep playing if you don't let go of the pickle.
2. After three consecutive episodes of stagnation it was great. Also the monologue was the best I've seen in A WHILE. And the Lawernce Welk skit. Fantastic.

I love you too, Charles Barkley.

I still can't love SNL, but this episode was pretty good in my opinion. I'm sick of seeing Justin's face.

Oh, and isn't Bill Hader's face amazing? Like, I'm not attracted to him or anything and I don't even know if I find him funny, but the angles and shit just blow my mind.

When I woke up Sunday morning, everyone was all, "Best SNL in years!" but then I watched it and wondered what the hell they were talking about.....
Harry Caray had me in fits (as expected), Jeopardy! was just OK, and I didn't do a whole of laughing besides that.

When I realized I wasn't laughing much at all, I switched over to the Soup. Much bigger laughs to be had over there. Can someone please take this dog out back and shoot it. He answers to Nostalgia.

On an unrelated note, does anyone else here feel like 30 Rock reads like a term paper by Fey on why she couldn't be funny on SNL?

You must be over 50 to think Will Ferrell was better then Justin Timberlake. Will did the same ole tired sketches. I liked the Mark sketch better when Family Guy did it a week ago. Did I mention it was actually funny? What was so great about the Goodnight Saigon sketch? I forgot you like 90 years old. Go take your pills. Harry Carrey aside it was a bust. And that’s getting old. There was nothing original in the whole show. They must have wanted a break for the last week. Hate to say it but Justin Timberlake was much better. Just go to hulu to see for yourself. Do they let just anybody write on this website?. Are you even showing theses videos legally? You SUCK.
