Sarah Palin Gets Pranked Again -- By SNL

Last night's SNL election special was unwatchable except for this part, which I found while fast forwarding through a carefully curated selection of the least funny moments (and a few funny ones we've all seen a million times) from their election coverage. This segment, pre-taped on Saturday, proves Sarah Palin will just read anything put in front of her on cue cards. The un-funniness of the writing here, for once, seems very deliberate:

That was the most smug I've ever seen someone be while totally bombing. Scariest moment: "I should warn you, come January 20th, 2009, when I am sworn in as Vice President, you guys (NBC) had better knock it off! Otherwise I will get NBC's broadcast license revoked." Watching that line was like watching all the Saw movies at the same time. (Also, did anyone notice that they seem to have added a laugh track to the online version of this clip? Maybe it's my TV, but I heard only inaudible, polite laughter last night, and there seem to be a few real, though undeserved laughs here.)

Those laughs were from the people who didn't realize it wasn't Tina Fey.

OMG I was thinking the exact same thing last night. Not only was it completely unfunny but it was like a glimpse into a terrifying possible future.

Yes. That was horrible! Scariest thing I’ve seen in a while. And so bitchy! God, please don't let her win!

The writers pranked everyone last night...the Palin sketch was no more embarrassing that the nonsensical Pelosi/Fred Thomson bit.

I muted her right at the moment you quoted. It was unbearably bad and only showed her abysmal perception skills.

I didn't hear any laughs except for at the beginning either.

AGREED! I just read a recap of this over at Pophangover and they called her "a sinister mob boss with a vendetta and a bad case of PMS" --- lol. So true. I was scared.

It sounds like a canned laugh track to me.

Not sure why you moderators are blocking my comments just because I mentioned another website, but for the record, that's incredibly lame.

We don't have moderators, just spam filters, and your comment got caught. But people link to other sites in comments all the time. So no lameness intended, and it's published now above.

Is that a reference to Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights? Remember when he was having his close-up spat with (French) Borat and it ended with, "I play--I play for keeps!!"

yea.... so.... she's an arrogant know-nothing... to quote ariana huffington.
and the last thing we need is ANOTHER 4-8 years of an arrogant know-nothing in the white house....

it's like she's either PROUD of being a folksy and buffoonish caricature, or she's blithely and blissfully unaware of how she's perceived... like those people in the first round American Idol auditions (the only part I watch, for the record)...

either way, I'm terrified that this sincerely stupid and contentiously ignorant ladyfool may be our VP.....

Was this even supposed to be funny? It just made her look crazier. And the whole "I didn't even know SNL was still on the air" line is so tired. But I guess if it was good enough for Marky Mark...
