Waiting For It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

thumbnail icon: Waiting For It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Last night's season finale was really good. PHEW. Leave them wanting more, am I right you guys? That's probably the second most important showbiz rule aft--TIMING! So, now that we've finished the fourth season, let's rank the episodes from worst to best. This is a scientific ranking, which means that it is PROVEN and INFALLIBLE.

13. Who Pooped The Bed? (WORST EPISODE EVER)
12. Mac's Banging The Waitress
11. Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life
10. The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell
9. Mac and Dennis: Manhunters
8. Mac and Charlie Die: Part 2
7. The Gang Gets Extreme Makeover
6. Paddy's Pup: The Worst Bar In Philadelphia
5. Mac and Charlie Die: Part 1
4. The Gang Solves The Gas Crisis
3. America's Next Top Paddy's Billboard Model Contest
2. Finale
1. Sweet Dee Has A Heart Attack

There you have it. Nicely done, science.

In the event that you missed last night's episode, it borrowed on the favored comedic trope of the past decade: the misguided amateur musical. We're definitely at the tail end of that trend. I hope. But it was still TBS very funny. Here's the exciting finale:

Who's on top and who's on bottom now?
See you in a year, this show!

By far, and I have to defy this use of scientific method, but The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell is the worst episode. I'll give it, The Poop The Bed episode was bad, but I did a test of my own and well 4 dead birds, a whale with a bad gas problem, and my cousin lost in a maze is a conclusive test- The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell is the worst episode ever.

I agree. The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell was just painful.

There were 13 episodes in season 3. I think you forgot to rank last weeks Extreme Makeover episode.

What?! Only #8 for Manhunters? Charlie and Sweet Dee getting the hunger for human meat was the best moment of the season, minus their partnership to make a viral video. I understand the theory behind splitting them up like on Sweet Dee has a Heart Attack, but the highs are just so tremendous when Sweet Dee and Charlie pair up.

The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell was almost shark jumpingly terrible. I would rank the episode where Dee and Charlie eat human flesh higher (is that the Manhunters one?) Part of me was sad the gang had to reprise Nightman this week - I almost wish they would have left a classic alone. But the stage performance was just as funny as the original. Even if no one was huffing glue at the time.

Overall, I felt a little disappointed by this season as the weeks went on, but looking at this list reminds me that this show is pretty great. There was some really funny stuff this season. Nice take, Gabe.

Whoa! Are you telling me that "Sweet Dee Is Dating a Retarded Person" doesn't make the cut?!?!? It has 'DAYMAN' which is basically the best Charlie moment of all time.

it's a ranking of episodes from this season, your indignance is misplaced

I think Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life should be ranked higher because 1. Dee spends a day in Charlie's shoes, which involves eating cat food and huffing paint; and 2. Sinbad and Rob Thomas torturing Dennis is the psychiatric ward is hilarious -- it's the best thing either of them have ever done.

Saying that The Gang Cracks the Liberty Bell is the worst episode ever makes me worry that Two and a Half Men is the best thing you got going in your life. Do you guys even enjoy It's Always Sunny?

i have to say that the episode the gang cracks the liberty bell cannot be qualified for worst episode solely for the scene where they shoot crickets head off because it was so funny and unexpected and surprisingly cool

I must preface this by saying that I was, for the first three seasons, perhaps The World's Biggest Always Sunny Fan. Three rock-solid seasons of non-stop hilarity.

HOWEVER...

Season 4 was a colossal shitwich, start to finish. Every episode sucked sweaty ball sack. The only one that made me laugh was "Mac and Charlie Die" and that was really only due to the look on Mac's face as he was huffing "poppers" and shooting the shit out of the car.

ALSO -- no matter how awesome they may have been, they need to stop dragging out the same peripheral characters (Rickety Cricket) and schticks (Day Man). New. Ideas. Please.

Wow, I thought "Pooped the Bed" was one of the very best. But I'll agree with the Liberty Bell nay-sayers... that was definitely my least favorite of the season.

Wait, people didn't like the Who Pooped The Bed episode? I guess if I had my head up my ass as much as Gabe I'd be weary of a little poo humour.
