Kenneth The Page Does The "Top That" Rap From Teen Witch

As was politely mentioned in the comments of an earlier 30 Rock post, I need to go to Recapper's Jail for failing to include Kenneth's allusion to Teen Witch and the song "Top That," both of which are huge on the internet and in people's hearts. Huger than The Huffington Post. So here:

Videogum regrets ignoring this legitimately significant cultural moment. (It would have been slightly funnier if he hadn't explained the joke, though.)

I would have to agree with the last statement. People who know the reference will know it without being told. The people who are told that have no clue will still have no clue. Does that make sense? Do I need to go to Commenter's Jail?

Please tell me this makes you guys want to put Teen Witch on the list of Worst Movie of All Time (like I suggested some time ago.)

WRONG teen witch should be on the list for best movie of all time for the rap alone. Teen witch made giant red hair okay and for that i will be eternally grateful. Also for the tiny scary lady.

When I was watching this episode with my family, I was the only one who knew what it was. I INSTANTLY broke down into uncontrollable laughter. Too funny.

I love Teen Witch! It is one of my favorite movies right behind Showgirls with commentary. If you haven't seen Showgirls with commentary by David Schmader you are SERIOUSLY missing out. Its hilarious.

Great to see 'Top That' still being used. It's origin was rocky to say the least.
I'm the Director of 'Teen Witch' and can't believe that it was 20 years ago that I did this film. As a side note, when TWE sent me the script, the film was written without music as a 'teen-ploitation' film with lots of hard R rated scenes. But despite the efforts to 'exploit', the core of the script still had heart and that's what I responded to. The question for me as a Director was how to turn the story around, so I suggested making the film as a 'musical'. The producers initially said, 'thanks, don't call us, we'll call you', and I thought that was the end of it. About two weeks later I received a call from one of the producers, Alana Lambrose, who said, tell me more about this musical idea. So we met, and I said, I can hear really fun, 'bubble-gum' rock n' roll as the core to this story. Alana got it, and said I think I know just the composers, the Weir Brothers. They sent a demo of some songs that hit the target on the nose and 'Teen Witch' as you know it today was launched. Shortly thereafter I moved out of LA, but still directed and produced a lot of TV, mostly reality. I'd like to invite all Teen Witch fans to view my latest feature film, now available on DVD and may be just the ticket for some of your kids now. It's called American Drummer Boy. www.americandrummerboy.com As in all my projects, music supports the core of the story. In this case, it's not bubble-gum rock n' roll, but 19th century period music that supports the story. Wait till you hear 'Slumber My Darling' written originally by Stephen Foster, but sung by an unbelivably talented young teenager.
