Britney Spears Is Returning To Spoil How I Met Your Mother

thumbnail icon: Britney Spears Is Returning To Spoil How I Met Your Mother

The Insider just reported breaking news that Britney Spears will be returning to guest-star on How I Met Your Mother in an episode airing May 12 that begins filming today (I know it's somewhat of an industry standard, but it's kind of funny, knowing Britney, that this news wasn't officially confirmed until she physically showed up to work today):

The synopsis of the episode, "Everything Must Go," was released by 20th Century Fox: "Barney and Abby realize that they have one thing in common, their mutual hatred of Ted. The new 'couple' decides to go to the bar to flaunt their new relationship in Ted's face. Desperate to get a rise out of his former pal, Barney pops a surprising question to Abby. "

Um, WHAT 20th Century Fox episode synopsis? Excuse me? Barney made out with Robin last week! It was a huge plot point with lasting ramifications for the show that should not be abandoned just because the show only gets good ratings when Britney Spears guest-stars. Oh wait, here's a clip from tonight's show, where Barney and Robin agree never to tell the others that they (!) slept together (predictable, but the right-click/save as line is funny.) Hopefully the lure of stunt casting doesn't keep this from being an ongoing thing, because I think I speak for all (four) gigantic HIMYM fans in saying that we all want Barney and Robin to totally get married.
