More Like Flowers For AlgerNOT! Will Smith is supposedly in talks to star in a remake-adaptation of Flowers for Algernon. On the one hand, BOO, obviously, but on the other hand, that might be the funniest thing I have ever heard of and I would go see it on opening day.

I dearly hope it's a half-CGI half-live action buddy comedy aimed at children. Like Garfield.

like, Will Smith plays the mouse? right? and Shia LeBouf (or some popular male actor, I was thinking Tim Robbins but he's all paunchy now) plays Charlie and they are in a race against time to keep their intelligence? right? and there are motorcycles!

Whoops. That's a little too Ralph S. Mouse.

Nobody's ever done a movie about flowers before.

Flowers in the Attic. That was about flowers having incestuous sex, right?

or War of the Roses? Because sometimes Flowers just grow apart and then wreck their house in a fable about divorce.

Flowers in the Attic was originally Flowers in a Spaceship We Made In The Backyard

Playing a mentally challenged person will be Will's greatest challenge yet as an actor

I hope Jamie Foxx can find time to write this.

Will Smith, in a bit of "modernization" on the novel, will actually be playing the drug injected into Charly. He will appear as a half-human, half-genetically-engineered-vaccine, all sass biochemical production, which will then float around inside of Charly, to be played by 1985 Martin Short. He will help Martin become self-confident and earn the love of Top Gun-era Meg Ryan. He will also fight a tiny guy in some sort of exoskeleton suit. Then Martin Short will sneeze him out and become retarded again, but Meg Ryan will still love him, because He Is Charly. This is because originality currently flourishes in the movies.

In this version Will Smith is a vampire janitor at the werewolf factory and Algernon is a dragon voiced by Rainn Wilson. Alice is Eddie Murphy in drag. Elusive Oscars all around for this one.

Once Charly loses his newfound intelligence, he realizes that he can't go back to the way things were, and that the best thing to do is move with his Aunty and Uncle in Bel-Air.

I hope they title this remake "The Fresh Retard", because that would be phenomenal. Also, admit it, it makes more sense than "The Fresh Prince" did.
