Exclusive First Look At MTV's New Teen Wolf

thumbnail icon: Exclusive First Look At MTV's New Teen Wolf

MTV confirmed yesterday that they were moving ahead with their announced Teen Wolf remake TV series. Oh, great news! I'm going to crush a beer can on my forehead in celebration in the hopes that the blunt force trauma will kill me. From Reuters:

"It has a fresh take and is very different from the original," said Liz Gateley, senior vp MTV series development. "It has more of an 'American Werewolf in Paris' feel to it. It's a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques."

A dramatic comedy thriller about werewolf basketball. Purrrfect. This guy is almost TOO excited.

But so far, we haven't gotten a chance to see what the new Teen Wolf, 2009's Teen Wolf, will look like. UNTIL NOW!

Cooooooool. Apparently the only thing the new Teen Wolf keeps on his Zune is "I Got A Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, which is perfect for surfing on top of Stiles's Wolfmobile (a Mini-Cooper). And that's fresh.

Gabe. I thought I made my feelings for Werewolves clear in Teen Korner, why must you taunt me? Is this werewolfgum?! I need to sit down (I often type on my laptop standing up when visibly distressed).

I love how they sell their shitty remake of a popular werewolf movie by comparing it to another shitty remake of a popular werewolf movie.

"Our take on the story is going to be like the Bewitched remake meets the Stepford Wives remake, with just a touch of the American Godzilla remake."

So they decided to go with An American Werewolf in PARIS, huh?

I read that and had to double check with myself that that was the shitty one, right? That makes sense. They are adults making intelligent decisions.

So, MTV thinks that werewolves are "relatable characters".
Relatable in the sense that I, the viewer, am also averse to silver bullets, or relatable in the sense that I, the viewer, will spend my full-moon nights howling and eating human flesh? Do tell, wise studio producers...

"I can't tell if all these teens are howling at the moon or howling because their pants are full of New Moon trailer." ---quote from Gossip Wolf (that's what the show is called, right?)

When I was 11 or so, I used to think the MTV was super cool. Now it is just terrible and clearly marketed to 11 year-olds. This begs the question, was MTV ever actually cool and perhaps I was a cool 11 year-old, or, has it always been lame and I was equally stupid as the people who watch it now? (My guess is the latter).

Also, this is an awful idea.

What's next? The Mummy goes to high school wrapped in Ed Hardy scarves? He's new in school (moved here from a tomb) and just wants to fit in. The kids will all identify with that.

Hey, why can't these Ed Hardy's take the "Death Before Dishonor," so colorfully blinged onto their t-shirts, more seriously?

I'm not going to screenshot this, but please hit the next button on the picture feed just right of the headline at the top of this page (unless the image of Oasis is already there) to see the 'two best (werewolf) friends in the center who provide a great comedy element'.

I do not have any experience with vampires, however I do have experience with werewolves. I shot one once but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbors dog.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

First they try to remake Rocky Horror Picture Show and Now this?!!!! Leave Teen Wolf as it is! The cheesy cornball movie it was in the 80s. They're gonna try to put some depth into the new version I bet which is not mathematically possible.
