Enjoy: Mark Wahlberg's "Cough Syrup" Scene From The Happening

thumbnail icon: Enjoy: Mark Wahlberg's "Cough Syrup" Scene From The Happening

Does anyone care that The Happening came out on DVD today? The little movie that couldn't about vengeful plants that caused human suicide seemed vaguely relevant back in June but is totally silly now, and not just because of the premise, plot, dialogue, and acting. If only M. Night had had a window into the future, he could have had Marky Mark running from the temptation of sub-prime lenders instead of the evil wind! Back in June, we covered the shit out of The Happening's theatrical release, possibly to obsessive extremes. But if you haven't had the pleasure of seeing The Happening, or even if you have, especially if you're an actor choosing a monologue for an audition, or a dude who wants to make his girlfriend jealous, this clip is really all you need. "If we're going to die, I want you to know something..."

No, Zooey, thank YOU! Anyway, also released for the first time on DVD today? The classic banned documentary we all pretended to have seen in middle school, Faces Of Death. Coincidence? I think not.

when zooey deschanel asks "are you joking?" she is referring to his acting.

when she says "thank you" she is thanking him for responding with a nod, rather than speaking out loud.

I can't believe that's actually a line in the movie! Oh wait, this movie was written by M. Night Shyawfulmalan; never mind this scene totally makes sense.

this post really came at a great time for me personally, because just this morning i was thinking "you know what would be the funniest? if the the events in 'the happening' started taking place in real life and they interviewed mark wahlberg about it."

I took friends to see The Happening in a second-run theater on Three Dollar Movie Day. I actually missed this scene because we were laughing so hard.

There was one other guy in the theater, but we were laughing so hard, he walked out around when the train stops AND THEY LOSE CONTACT WITH WHOM? EVERYONE

When we went to see it, we got shushed for laughing so hard. BY TEENAGERS. You haven't lived unless teenagers have shushed you in a movie.

Is this a so bad it's watchable movie? Or os it like Jurassic Park 3 which was so bad it wasn't even watchable?

Genevieve, it's like JP3 bad. I saw this movie in theaters because I thought it would be an enjoyably bad movie. But it wasn't. Best part of the experience was when the movie ended and someone in the back of the theater shouted, "THIS MOVIE FUCKING SUCKED!"

This film will take it's place along side Plan From Outer Space (which is a superior film).

I am so filled with happiness when I read this site. That acting was bad. And the Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals skit from SNL was SPOT ON!
