Kirk Cameron's Fireproof, For Dummies

thumbnail icon: Kirk Cameron's Fireproof, For Dummies

Remember Fireproof, the Christian movie about one firefighter's quest to win back his wife's love after being dishonorable about internet porn that surprised art house snobs by becoming the top-grossing indie of 2008? The Christian Backdraft that even Kathie Lee made fun of Kirk Cameron about? Well, you can take it off your Ironic Movie Night Netflix list (everyone has one of those, right?), because here's a four minute video of all the "best" parts. I found that this viewing experience can be heightened by imagining a church full of hysterical laughter at the "funny" parts.

I love that there's a big dramatic scene that includes a character accusing another character of clearing his browser history. That's just Drama 101:

(Via Video Home System.)

When he calls her a "woman" when someone in a normal non-Christian movie would say "bitch," it kind of has MORE power. Someone should tell Quentin Tarantino about that trick.

And if that's too long, here's the more plot-centered "Fireproof In 60 Seconds":

Mr. Rudolph = the audience.

This looks so bad that I almost want to buy the DVD just for irony.

Much like how I own The Ladykillers.

I don't feel strongly about porn so much as masturbation. You know, because it makes me feel good.

Also, the firefighter whose heel gets ran over by the train? Hilarious.

As awful as that was, I'll probably watch this to find out what happens to the train guy. Maybe I could turn into some sort of drinking game. Mr. Rudolph = DRINK!

I've only seen your "highlights", but I'm surprised actually it's as good as it is considering all the "actors" were church volunteers.

The family on "18 Kids and Counting" called this the greatest movie ever made... And they were completely serious.

I've seen this movie multiple times and I think it is awesome, especially considering that all of the crew volunteered to make this movie. These "highlights" if you can call them that were edited. Some of the scenes were spliced with parts taken out- perfect example is the scene when he is at the computer. There is a total chunk missing from it before he gets up and gets upset. And the "Fireproof in 60 Seconds" was made by the actors and editors as a joke.

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is willing to have an open mind and an open heart. I think it was very well done and deserves a look before people start mocking it drawing conclusions based on things taken out of the context of the movie.
