Videogum's #1 Reality TV Villain Of All Time

thumbnail icon: Videogum's #1 Reality TV Villain Of All Time

I think we all enjoy a little bit of Schadenfreude with our reality TV, that's part of the entertainment. The problem is that in order to feel that RUSH, we have to pay attention to the sad clowns, which is exactly what they want. Is it worth it? How should I know, I'm not a scientist. What I do know is that TV Guide just voted Omarosa their #1 reality TV villain. From the Daily News:

"The Apprentice's" Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth has been named TV Guide's No. 1 reality-TV villain.

Haha. I'm so good at using blockquotes. In school they taught me that the way to use blockquotes was to give all the information first and then use the quote so that people will know you don't play games.

Personally, I don't think Omarosa deserves the win. Primarily because I never watched The Apprentice when she was on, but also because she seems too rehearsed. She knew from day one that she wanted to be the villain on that show. Blah. The only thing worse than a reality TV star is a reality TV star who prepares in advance.

Videogum's #1 reality TV Villain of All Time is ...

Puck.

Worst. He made it onto the TV Guide list too, but only as an Honorable Mention. A rare miss, TV Guide. As a member of the third season of the Real World, Puck didn't have the cultural training that modern reality TV stars do from years of reality TV viewing to properly guard or heighten his personality. Besides, there's not a lot of manipulative editing going on when dude's wearing a swastika t-shirt and telling people he's glad they have AIDS.

As his prize for winning Videogum's #1 reality TV villain, we'd like to direct you to his manager's website. It has information that will put YOU in touch with the Puckinator. This is my favorite part:

Puck of The Real World would be great for nightclub appearances, hosting events, and speaking on various issues at college lectures.

Um, no he wouldn't.

I agree that puck is special and can be credited with changing both The Real World, and the real world, forever. Now maybe i feel this way because it's on tv right now, but I still think it's worth bringing up Will from Hollywood. Mostly because he seemed like a dumb version of someone I would actually be friends with, until he pulled that "your dad is dead cause you're gay" shit. I was blindsided.

I would place Janice Dickinson, ANYONE from latter-day Real World, The Hills, neXt, Parental Advisory, Boiling Points, Hogan Knows Best, I Love New York (plus many, many others) as more villainous than Omarosa or Puck. Any proof to back that up would involve me pointing to a TV screen and resting my case thusly.

So true. People who go on TV know too much about how TV and the media work and can orchestrate their own villainy. Puck just wanted to show off, and I don't think he knew, at least that first time, how he'd come off. Same with Richard on the first Survivor. He just wanted to win. Everything after that, though...
