Is Anybody Else Watching House?

thumbnail icon: Is Anybody Else Watching House?

House, M.D. has always been set in a less realistic fantasy world than Passions or Lost, but last night's part one of a two-part season finale called "House's Head" was just, like, based on a dare or something. I refuse to pay attention to dream sequence episodes on general low-stakes principle, and most of the episode took place in a dream sequence/hypnosis trance where House had to piece together a drunken night to diagnose diseases and keep people from dying. But the entire episode seemed like an excuse for a dream scene where Cuddy, the hospital administrator who tries to keep House in line, exotic-dances for him in a bra and panties on a stripper pole. On a bus.

Why do they think they can get away with this stuff on what's supposed to be a medical drama? I asked my friend Bex, who loves the show and is the one who introduced me to House canes, and she said "Because we're the only people under 65 who watch House."

I haven't watched last night's episode yet, though I usually enjoy House. Or at least the beginning of the season was good.

Fun fact: Hugh Laurie was originally cast opposite Chris Farley in his last movie Almost Heroes (then it went to Matthew Perry). (I read that Chris Farley book last week.)

"Because we're the only people under 65 who watch House."
is that really an answer though?

Hey, House is great. I watch House. But dream sequence episodes are always bad. Also, people over 65 love them.

I usually like House (not so much this season). Last night's ep was good (particularly the Cuddy part) and while I'm glad it didn't totally mimic Season 2's similarly hazy finale, it kinda sucked to see it so closely imitated.

I watched the show last night, for the, oh, 3rd time in the last three years. With my wife (who is substantially less than 65 and who likes the show, and her parents - ehh ehh ehh- yeah, 65). None of us "got" it. A failure in this household. I went to bed asking of anyone who would listen... "exactly wtf. SERIOUSLY. WTF?"

My mom likes it, but she wasn't here this time.

But maybe that's just me.

I'm 27, and I've watched House since almost the beginning. I was incredibly pissed when I realized the end of season 2 (he got shot) that it was an entire dream sequence. I mean, when they put him in the same room as the shooter, I was clued in, but still. I concur that this ep. was a bit random and raunchy, (we saw part of Cuddy's boob!) but I still kind of liked it. Although the girl with the necklace, the 1st time, not the freaking 6th time when House said it, I was like "her necklace is AMBER". Gah.
