That's Your Boyfriend: Guy Who Prays For Rain During Obama Speech

This is Stuart Shepard from Focus on the Family. He's encouraging people to pray for rain during Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention. He is your boyfriend.

I know it was probably rhetorical, Stuart, but I'd like to take a moment to answer the question: "is it wrong to ask people to pray for rain?" No, it's not wrong. It's silly and archaic. Oh, and stupid. It implies a belief in magic that doesn't even have anything to do with the Bible. Even you know that is not how God works. It makes you look petulant and impotent and out of ideas. Instead of praying for rain, why not pray for a political viewpoint that isn't based on infringing on other people's right to live as they choose, or at the very least a political viewpoint that is viable enough that it could go up against a strong candidate and win rather than needing the obfuscation and confusion of miracle rain to sneak through.

THAT BEING SAID, I really love how many set-ups you included in your video to keep things visually interesting and the use of that prop umbrella was HILARIOUS. It's too bad you're the boyfriend of all our readers or maybe you and I could have got something going. Just kidding. You're not my type.

Agreed, that is basically how this genius is treating it, and I don't think this guy has a clue as to what Biblical prayer is. But there is Biblical precedent for praying for rain, so I would have to disagree with the last part of that statement. See James 5:17-18/1 Kings 17:1. As to its relevancy in terms of praying for rain on the DNC, I would say that's doubtful at best.

Someone should pray to Fat Joe and Lil' Wayne - they are the ones who make it rain.

I mean, I was on the fence. But if it rains and Obama has to wait and do his speech at some unscheduled time, I'm pretty sure I'm voting Repub. Think about it, if this guy's afraid of rain, what will happen with Al Qaeda, guys. I mean, shit.
