Sarah Palin Blows Stephen Colbert's Persian Gulf Trip Cover On Twitter

thumbnail icon: Sarah Palin Blows Stephen Colbert's Persian Gulf Trip Cover On Twitter

So 35 minutes ago Sarah Palin twittered "Getting ready to tape shout-out for our awesome US troops serving overseas! Will be on 'Colbert Report' next month, broadcast from Iraq..." So that is going to happen. Let's assume the "..." at the end means "in bed."

Update: wait a second, isn't Stephen's trip location still SECRET and just "the Persian Gulf"? Unless Stephen's announced that it's going to be Iraq already, Sarah Palin might have just blown his cover! Developing...

Update 2: Two sources confirm that Stephen Colbert's trip is, so far, officially to "The Persian Gulf," though there are hints from outside sources that it's Iraq (also, duh, it's definitely Iraq). But Sarah Palin still blew his cover, and she was almost Vice President. That's So Sarah!

I know this site doesn't position itself as a high-brow solon or anything, but our sitting VP let slip his secured location to Newsweek. Top secret for years and he gives it away while joking with Elenor Clift...

So the losing candidate ruined the surpise on a comedy show? And... What? Am I missing some ironic subtext here?

Is Sarah one of those who thinks Stephen Colbert is not making fun of the GOP?

In case you haven't been watching the Colbert Report, the long running joke has been that he is visiting the middle east and has not yet divulged where exactly he will be going. He has a (long) song and a graphic that make a joke of the fact that he is visiting the middle east, but that we do not know here he is going. So, yes, MFS, I would say that you are missing some ironic subtext here, if it were ironic or subtext at all.... The fact is, you are missing some non-ironic regular text. You see, the joke is that Stephen Colbert doesn't want us to know where he is going, and now Palin has ruined that joke by announcing where he is going. Even if the joke is based on the idea that were we to know where he was going, it would put him in danger, he obviously isn't the government, so it's not that important. We were just supposed to not know because it's funny for him to think that it's important. You're welcome for explaining something so fucking simple that no one but you could possibly equate it to our vice president's tendency to run his mouth, as though somehow the left wing media was forgetting to realize that Joe Biden is a dumbass.
