O Captain, My Captain

This was the video I was going to post first thing this morning if Barack Obama lost the election last night. I encoded it and everything, just in case, but since the mood today seems to be both of elation and the feeling that there's so much more work to do, it seems still relevant, so here it is anyway (also, who doesn't love this movie?):

Sorry to be Seriousgum, guys, (and to compare Obama to Robin Williams!) but it's hard not to get a little choked up today, and that old guy is sooo McCain.

I PEE GOLD

"and that old guy is sooo McCain." Or you know, every white voter over 60 in Florida/Virginia/Ohio/Indiana.

I am so glad this isn't posted today for its intended purpose.

Also, I've always wished that one of those guys accidentally flipped his desk while getting up on it. That would be hilarious.

I'm thrilled Obama won, but Dead Poets Society is easily a Worst Movie of All Time nominee.

O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting

Fricking High Fives and puppies all around EVERYONE!!!! Umm, I think it's ok to say this Election was taken to the next level, Way to go America!!!!!
I'm so jazzed that I get to write that, without the slightest bit of sarcasm.

P.S. I salute you Barack Obama and also, Walt Whitman!

Obama winning is like finding out the ending of DPS changed- all of the ballsy democrats get up on their desks, thinking of Walt Whitman and dreaming of a better Welton society, the old headmaster concedes and goes home to attempt not to have a heart attack while shtupping his wife, Williams' character becomes new headmaster, and everyone can YAWP to their hearts' content. In the sequel, we see the ashamed young republicans succumbing to an infectious bout of bipartisanship- while Whitman is still read, Ayn Rand is introduced to the reading list.

I did nominate DPS for The Hunt. But after the allegory made today I would like to pull an Elizabeth Hasselback and retract my nomination.

However, "The Emperors Club" should be next. And it's not the fun Emperor's club Spitz used to frequent.
