I used to read Mad Magazine growing up, and I remember being so confused by the way certain words would be bolded in their movie parodies. It took me the longest time to figure out that the bolded word were for emphasis, as they are in regular conversation. But the way I was reading them before I figured that out had nothing to do with hearing the emphasis in my head -- I read it as being random and confusing.
This is the way I read your comments. I think the main problem is the caps, which make my brain want to stop working. May I suggest HTML tags instead? Unless that's un-American, of course.
