Videogum's Teen Korner: Comic-Con 2009 (In Your Pants)

WASSUP POGS!

Yo, as you probably heard on da grapevine, this week is Comi-Con, which is the world's greatest place for all of the coolest posters for movies that won't come out for three years. It's basically like the Juggalo's Gathering but for nerds awesome dudes, and super cool girls (who will one day be the first girl president probably) (and that's fresh!). Anyway, today is the second day of the convention (very niiiiice!). There's already been lots of bodacious activity, like James Cameron, who directed some movie called Titanic, which I think was a documentary about jewelry but whatevs, he has a new movie coming out called Avatar and he screened the first 25 minutes of it. Whoops, look at me boring you with all this Grandpa Talk (talking is a word old people use that means Human IM). I know what you really want. TWILIGHT NEWZ!

Check out our photo gallery of all the cool Twilight stuff at this year's Comi-Con. JIGGY WITH IT!

Am I a nerd to be pumped for the new Tron? Even if that's mostly because Daft Punk is doing the soundtrack?

I love how Gabe is out of touch with teens these days [because he's old, get it? HAR HAR] and mixes up 90's slang with aughts slang.

Is it wrong to love that he said "aughts" slang? Can we start using "aughts" now? Is that - is that allowed now? Because I wants it.

clearly doing her research on bands after being inspired by a haircut. why do I bother to work in music anymore.

OH, I'M SORRY, KRISTEN STEWART. Are we BORING YOU? You would rather be skating in your sold gold new pool that your gazillion dollars from the Twilight enterprise has bought you and blasting this new band you totally just heard of called Minor Threat instead of at ComicCon which is SO BORING you are SO OVER IT, where girls are dressed as Anime characters and boys are dressed as DC Comics superheros and you are getting paid to do all this? Fuck girl, it has just got to suck being you. I'd trade places with her just to be at ComicCon instead of ACTUAL WORK. (Caps due to the 13 year old in me being invoked by Teen Korner.)

This is the saddest thing I have ever seen. Not only are they laughably suggesting that because somebody wears a Hot Topic t-shirt they automatically go home at night and stick on Out of Step but they also explain who Minor Threat are. MTV are having to explain who Minor Threat are. Let me repeat that. MTV ARE HAVING TO EXPLAIN WHO MINOR THREAT ARE. Sad.

Am I the only one who enjoys Twilight? Or likes Kristen Stewart?

Obvs, I read/watch it in a different context than I'd read/watch The Possibility of an Island/The Wire, inasmuch as I recognize that it's silly and has nothing to say about anything I find important and that its target audience is teenage girls. But I really do like it, in the same vein (I think!) that I like Gossip Girl, and it's really confusing to me that many here enjoy that show with its convoluted/ridiculous plots and pretty bad acting and its target audience being teenage girls, but then reflexively dismiss Twilight for being exactly that.

Also! Kristen Stewart is a babe and was pretty good in Adventureland (also surprisingly fun!).

What I'm trying to say is that I'm lonely and insecure and need people to validate my enjoyment of stuff. Does nobody else like this junk?

Woof.

i read the books and thought they sucked. but i read them all, so i should shut up.
i won't see the movie because i have only recently pulled myself out of a troublingly intense crush on r. pattz and i am a grown woman and need to pull it together.
i don't watch gossip girl.
but i can relate with you because of my secret, alienating-from-the-videogum-fold vice: i really like gwyneth paltrow.
when i heard she was doing a newletter, i subscribed because she's pretty and cute and funny and seems like she'd be fun to be friends with. she'd be my friend who said embarrassingly narrow-minded things, since she's been rich forever, and we'd tease her about it and she'd laugh it off because she's awesome.
and i am alone here.
but i don't care because i have good self-esteem, and i can self-validate.
