Operation Watch This: "She's A Talker"

This is a short film, made in 1993 by Neil Goldberg. The description on Ubu.com is pretty perfect:

More than 70 gay men in their living rooms pet their cats and say "She's a talker."

Yup.

I'm pretty sure the night before YouTube was invented, Steve Chan and Chad Hurley were sitting around Jawed Karim's Silicon Valley condo watching this on their holographic TV while they waited for the caviar and diamonds pizza to arrive and one of them was like "Holy shit. We're billionaires." (Thanks for the tip, Anna.)

I was kinda disappointed that these were staged. But funny for the first 30 or so.

More info on it:

It was originally created in 1993 for the MIX Festival (a film festival dedicated to showing experimental gay and lesbian film), which was hosted by The Kitchen that year. It was also broadcast as season 4 of Reel New York, a series of short films on Thirteen (NY's PBS station) in 1997.

Also, for those interested, there's an interview with Neil Goldberg discussing how he created the piece here:

I think it's funny that he specifically found men who had female cats. As if we would know the difference.

I blame Andy Warhol for this.

I keep thinking that it's one of those things that if you say "she's a talker" 3 times fast is sounds like something else but so far I've got bupkus.
