Jody Hill Is Giving Eric Wareheim A Run For His Music Video Money!

thumbnail icon: Jody Hill Is Giving Eric Wareheim A Run For His Music Video Money!

Over the past few months, Eric Wareheim has changed the face of music videos. Literally. He put music videos into Photoshop, and he melted their faces with the Melty Tool. He has also changed the butt of music videos, using the same technique. Obviously, he's doing important work. But now we have a new music video for The Avett Brothers, directed by Jody Hill (Eastbound and Down, The Foot Fist Way, Observe and Report) starring comedy's own Andy Daly, and suddenly it's like, HOLD ON A SECOND, there is a new guy who is directing great music videos in music video town. The best part is that this town IS big enough for the both of them, and these guys don't have to compete with each other or be enemies or murder each other in the street at all. Friendship!

There's a right way to make friends and a wrong way to make friends (prison). Give it time and stay in school. Trust me.

I feel like I'm watching a Jason Sudeikis* skit on SNL (a good one), especially in the first minute. Good stuff.
*or Bill Hader, if you prefer.

Definitely Sudeikis because of that crazy, constant guffawing the host does.

When he does the air guitar bit and asks "Who am I?" and then follows it up with "I don't know" I got flashes of Suds-as-Blagojevich and Suds-as-one-half-of-Jon-Bovi.

Between this song and 'I And Love And You' I think I've found a reason to go out and spend some money! Starting to really like these guys. #stereogumonvideogum

Andy Daly is one of the greatest. From his ridiculously optimistic personalities he imbues his characters with on shows such as Eastbound and Down and Reno: 911!, to his extensive work with UCB and ASSSCAT, to his album Nine Sweaters, to his ridiculously awesome moustache game you can play with your television- I fyou want me to watch something, tell me Andy Daly is in it!

Observe and Report is criminally underrated, it just might be a masterpiece.

I think that's because it was marketed as another man-boy comedy, when really it was not at all. I liked it a lot, though; it was quite disturbing.

Once we get to the video, the joke is dead. I like it and all, no Troll-mo, but 2 minutes is a helluva commitment to an intro when we get 3 minutes of song.

OMG I loved it! I wish I had a .gif from that Adam Sandler movie where that big beardy opera singer guy goes "GENIUS, GENIUS, GENIUSSSS!!"

Also, that singer [despite playing the guitar at chest level] lit my eyeballs on fire, in my pants. I'm assuming that's how sex works.
What a BABE.
