Cougars Playing MGMT On iPhones

A band that calls themselves "The Mentalists" playing MGMT using iPhones for instruments. Does this somehow feel inevitable? Like it has always existed?

We spend so much time worrying about how we're being manipulated by major corporations into buying or wanting or believing things we don't need, we lose sight of what the cougars are up to. They, too, are getting together with their charming accents and their rudimentary grasp on technology, dressed in their slightly too young for their age outfits and their costume jewelry, looking to all the world like they are just out having the time of their lives when in fact they have devised the perfect trap to lure young men into their taloned clutches. Ladiez + gadgets + MGMT = LOOK OUT, DUDEZ!

This is just like when Catherine Mason played Fleet Foxes on her Blackberry Storm to seduce Nate Archibald!

Gabe's definition of "cougar" is the strictest in the biz. 23 and up.

MGMT's "Kids" is the new song that boring white kids dance to at parties to feel hip, i.e. it's "Such Great Heights" '08/'09.

I thought 'Time to Pretend' and 'Electric Feel' were pretty well known, I like the both of them more than 'Kids'.

They may not be cougars, but they are definitely wearing too young for their age outfits.

the mentalist arent cougars. if i remember correctly they were on channel 4's unsigned act programme in the uk. They were poor and the asian lead singer lived in holland and the big american idol storyline was whether or not she could make the gig.

i think i understand the cougar/fashiion issues. a certain level of feminine adornment is associated with children who want to look older/glamorous, but once you reach an age at which such dressing is age-appropriate, you actually look naive/tasteless/desperate. so some conclude you are a cougar. however, i would just assume that you take the horrible advice of those trashy, vicious, butchering demons from "what not to wear."
