That Decemberists Montage From Mad Men Everyone's Talking About
There are no spoilers here, just the opening montage from this week's Mad Men, "Maidenform," in which several of the show's main female characters get dressed in front of mirrors to the tune of The Decemberists's "The Infanta." People seem to either think it's cool or hate it because they didn't have sea-shanty-singing indie bands in 1962. I think it's cool:
I like how Joan does that fake-pouty Marilyn mouth thing even when she's alone. Only slightly related Mad Men anachronism quiz question: in this episode, a lady at the country club (or rather, the show's writers) made a reference to the opening line of which fictionalized memoir that wasn't published until a year later?

Wow, is this real? Not a fan-made mashup? I don't know. I love the Decemberists, and I loved the fact that the Mad Men theme song is an RJD2 instrumental, but this may be pushing it as far as hipster cred is concerned. I guess I'll have to see it in context.

As someone who knows nothing about nothing, I assumed that everything between the opening credits and the end credits was from 1962 (aside from any score) so I was a little disappointed that the song isn't from 1962 only because I thought it was amazing to have a band sound so modern in 1962. It killed my dream.
