Ryan Gosling To Record Album, As Actors Are Wont To Do

thumbnail icon: Ryan Gosling To Record Album, As Actors Are Wont To Do

Ryan Gosling is going to record an album? Like a musical album? Someone's becoming a regular Leighton Meester over here. From People:

Ryan Gosling already moonlights as a deejay - and now the actor is taking another step toward a music career. He's releasing an album.

Just don't expect him to go pop.

Uh, I won't?

"What is this album, I was expecting him to go pop." "Well you shouldn't have expected that, didn't you read People magazine." "Valuable lesson learned." That is you talking to your dad about the new Ryan Gosling album. Your dad is a real People Magazine Head.

Pitchfork has an interview with Gosling and he describes his artistic vision this way:

"You know when you're a kid and you get crayons and papers and just draw whatever you want and it's just a bunch of messy lines, but to you it makes sense, and then they put it on the fridge? From that point on, you're always trying to get back on the fridge, you start drawing things that look like something, like, the more it looks like a horse, the more chance you have of getting it on the fridge. We wanted to get back to that place before we were trying to make the fridge. We wanted to work with people who hadn't been affected in that way yet."

OK, guys, the search is over. We have found our white Terrence Howard. (Finally. You know, that search we were all on.) Ryan Gosling, put down that guitar/bong and move my couch!

Forget music. He should be a poet with that beautiful overextended crayon/fridge analogy.

Glad to hear you're reading PEOPLE magazine.
Too bad an artist didn't use the Gabe-approved guidelines when describing something intangible.
Can you post the guidelines for discourse again?

Dude come on. That is some funny shit! Just because you've got a bug up your ass for Gabe doesn't mean Ryan Gosling isn't a self indulgent man/boy that makes up stupid metaphors for his childish behavior.

So to Ryan Gosling the record label is his Mom indulging his aimless scribblings to boost his fragile self esteem? At least it's funny. I'm not mad at ya RG.

So you come here to complain about Gabe hating everything and being too cynical, and your comments are always about hating everything Gabe's doing and being too cynical to enjoy some harmless e-snark. Why do you even bother Videogumming if you hate it so goddamn much? You don't always have to agree with Gabe (and Lindsay). In fact, this would be a pretty lame blog if everyone posted "I LOVE YOUR HILARITY, GABE" for every single post. So it'd be different if you had an occasional complaint about the writers or their opinions and spent the rest of your commenting time actually adding to some sort of conversation or having something funny to say. But, seriously, all you ever do is bitch and moan about him (them). Why do you even bother?

please read this months DUH AFICIANADO:
- actors are lucky if they are good at acting, they always sound moronic in press quotes/talk show interviews/web blogs
- these retarded musings from actors sound even worse when cherrypicked for the worse quotes
- focusing on every syllable that dribbles out of their mouths just heightens the intensity with which our generations over-obsess on celebrities
- these random moronic musings from said actors are not indicative of their personal philosophies on life and are just candid instances
- saying one bizzarre/random/inexplicable quote is a pretty boring shallow reason to villify or pigeonhole some one and it is a lazy, boring thing to post about.

Um, it kind of sounds like Ryan Gosling saw the movie Grace of My Heart when it was on TV last weekend and is trying to be like the Matt Dillion / Brian Wilson character... strange...

"I wanna make an album about childhood. Innocence. How a kid looks at things. How a kid'll make up a song so the lyrics don't always make sense to, uh, adults. Yeah, kids are cool."

I've heard the couple songs his band has released, and they're actually pretty good. Kind of Arcade Fire-y. Let's just say, his songz are better than his metaphorz.

uh yea - not that ryan's quote isn't ridiculous (because before you make it on the fridge, you're doing it for THE LOVE OF ART, and after you make it on the fridge, you're CLEARLY, as a child with fledgling motor skills, a corporate fridge whore doin' it for all the wrong reasons... I GET IT) - but I've been listening to, and enjoying(!), Dead Man's Bones for a few months now.

and i'm not getting my undies in a bunch if Gabe rips Ryan Gosling for being an idiot in interviews. Truth be told, I've never even watched a Ryan Gosling movie so... his music is fairing better with me.

I'm no publicist, but if you're a well known actor taking a stab at another form of expression, I don't think the best way to promote your album is suggesting that it only makes sense to you, and everyone else (i.e. your mom) is just humoring you.
