Michael Jackson's 1989 Celebrity Menagerie

In the outpouring of reminiscences about Michael Jackson's life and career over the past few days, it has been mostly overlooked that in 1989, he built a private celebrity menagerie, and he put all of the celebrities in there so that he could watch them mingle. Seriously, all of them. Uh oh, Richard Dreyfus just pooped on Whoopi Goldberg! (Gross, sorry.) (P.S. This video is amazing.)

there are so many celebrities in this thing it is ridiculous! I can name most of them:

  • Steven Spielberg
  • Weird Al Yankovic

I'm sure I missed a couple. 1989 was a busy year for me, what with my divorce and my hip surgery and planning my 50th birthday party. But I am pretty sure I got most of them. (Via JimmyFallonBlog.)

Josh is like Germany Ambitious and Misunderstood

1989 was a busy year for me as well, what with just being born and having to learn how to breathe and eat on my own.

Lucky for you, you didn’t have to witness the Corey Feldman Obsession, only glimpsed at in this video (1:27). Cause, you guys, shit got bad.

I was smiling to myself the whole time. Ha ha isn't this amusing. "Hey it's George Jefferson, oh funny it's Corey Feldman, he looks like Mike. Of course Ricky Schroeder is here. OK I get it."

Then Steve Guttenberg!!!!! I lost it at that point. I need a bigger "Holy Shit! That's funny."

Agreed, but it's been 5 days (RIP) and Mayim Bialik still hasn't released her public reaction. Clearly she was just in this to get a spot on "What Not to Wear" two decades later.

Never before or since has anyone been able to assemble celebrities at will for a music video like Michael. "Black or White" and "Remember the Time" are just two.
Also, wasn't that the winner of "I'm a Celebrity . . ." in the video? That's why they called MJ the "prognosticator of prognosticators" or something like that.
