Eric Wareheim's Music Video For Depeche Mode's "Hole To Feed" Is Gross

Eric Wareheim directed a music video for Depeche Mode, and needless to say, it is gross. And NSFW.

If this is supposed to appeal to the old people who actually liked Depeche Mode over 1,000 moons ago when they were relevant, I don't think it will. Old people are all about dinner parties and comfortable footwear and reasonable investment opportunities. And if it is supposed to appeal to "the kids," it is DEFINITELY not going to. Kids are all about Pogs and Hannah Montana and Sexting. BUT, if it's supposed to appeal to alternative-future-underage-carnival-band fetishists who engage in aggressive athletic FACE FUCKING, then, you know, it's like Hitler always said, 'OOOOOH, THAT'S A BINGO!'

P.S. Eric Wareheim is a mad man, rendering this entire discussion irrelevant.

I DON'T fucking get THIS shit. I mean, yeah, music VIDEOS DON'T really make that MUCH SENSE--especially NOWADAYS. But is this REALLY THE reaction TO MAINSTREAM music videos? Like DID WE MAKE an agreement that this is where we want TO GO? Because I DO not WANT to go THERE.

Agreed, when the camera makes a rush toward the exit part way through the video, I was all like "way to go camera, get out of that crazy face licking club", but it only got worse once we hit the streets. I feel confused and violated; I'm going to watch the Absolut Vodka ads a couple more times to regain my love for Eric Wareheim.

I didn't make it to the streets. Sounds like it was a good idea to turn it off. It was the only thing that was gross yet also boring.

You just say "bingo". Also, at 2:10 they have Seth Green in body paint playing the drums, I think that tells who this video is for (that doesn't tell you who this video is for).

You specifically asked for this when you requested that Eric Wareheim or Tim Heidecker be involved in all music videos. Shit, Gabe! What did you think was going to happen?

I still love Depeche Mode, and I guess these (cause i'm old?). And I don't believe in "Relevancy" of music, I mean relevant to what or who exactly? That being said, this video gives me the heeby jeebies. (how do you spell that?)

So, their music makes people spontaneously eat face? I think I would trade a big bag of shrooms for an hour in Eric's head.

Hate to break it to you but The Depeche Modes are still very relevant and influential, they are played consistently at the worlds finest hipster establishments (unironically) and people still make new music that sounds like DM songs from 20 years ago.

It's not so much gross as it is boring and dated-looking. Where's Mr. Liffo and the Jim Rose Circus Side Show? This would have been pretty edgy around 1993. Also, all hetero?!?

I like the video. I think that Eric Wareheim is one of the few people directing music videos today who seems to notice the obvious fact that MTV doesn't play music videos anymore, or any tv station for that matter, and that if you want your video to get exposure you need to exploit the internet. And a cool little artsy video isn't going to get anyone's attention. You need to present people with something they've never seen before. That's why the Parisian Goldfish and Pon de Floor videos have gone viral (sorry for using that phrase) and people who would otherwise never even hear of Flying Lotus or Major Lazer find themselves humming the songs after watching the wacky videos.

i thought it was brilliant. it actually made me pay attention to the music rather than distracting me from it (like most music videos do). give this guy a feature film to direct, stat.

I keep thinking "That's a bingo!" when I want to congratulate someone for keeping up with me, but I don't say it because it's sort of a grim reference? I hope "That's a bingo!" catches on so I can say it without specifically conjuring images of its Nazi character origin.

This video is a good reminder to only stand next to attractive people, always. just in case someone decides to break out the neon and glitter wigs and Depeche Mode some stranger's tongue up your nostril.
Although you know, no. This is a reminder to live in the woods alone. Still like the band, though.

Music exists because people create it, perform it and listen to it. People are living organisms, and biology is the study of living organisms.
