Where The Wild Things Are Probably Can't Get Much Better Than Its Poster

thumbnail icon: Where The Wild Things Are Probably Can't Get Much Better Than Its Poster

Check out the poster for Where the Wild Things Are, you guys! What a great poster. It's like fine art in a fancy museum. I'm going to get this poster framed and hang it above my bed, and then when a woman comes over I'm going to be like "THAT LITTLE BOY IS ME!" I'm going to scream that in her face. Because I'm a master of seduction.

Seriously, though, this is such a good poster. Moms are going to hate it, though. Moms are going to be like, "I can't see the monster's face. They made a mistake. Someone should write a letter and let them know. It's only polite."

Has anyone else noticed that movie posters have gotten really good lately? Jokes about floating heads aside, whoever is in charge of Hollywood Graphicz should get a raise. Even movies like Good Luck Chuck and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry had well-designed, aesthetically impressive movie posters. And those movies were pieces of shit! There was more thought and artistic intelligence in the design of the posters for those two garbage cans than went into the entire production of the movies themselves. By all rights Dane Cook should have wet farted on a poster and the end. That's not even a zing, it's just the first sentence in a Wikipedia entry about movie poster design.

Hopefully this movie is not a piece of shit. I mean, I'll probably love it because I've set the bar really low: my one hope for Where the Wild Things Are is that it does not use the pursuit of equal rights as a backdrop for homophobic fart jokes. Success!

Click through for a better view of this great poster.

Everything about this movie seems amazing so far. The aesthetics are so pleasing. The special effects aren't overdone and cheesy, they're beautiful and subdued. Yeah, I'm totally amped for this movie, and this poster is just another reason.

I'm really excited for this movie to be good, but at the same time it will be so easy to forget about if it's bad.
I like that sort of non-commitment with movies.

...you're so, right. This might be one of the better movie posters ever made. Ever.

This is good. I also like the Dr Strangelove/Addams Family handwriting.

However, there's still time for this movie to suck.

It would be impossible for me to describe how much I am looking forward to this film, so I won't try. Let me just say that it better be the greatest achievement in film history or I will be sorely disappointed.

I don't know; we all had the same hopes for Judge Dredd, and look how that turned out.

That's test footage from a while ago that is not indicative of the actual movie.

So I was reading another blog and apparently the "3-minute trailer is set to Arcade Fire's 'Wake Up'." Um, not to be a music snob or anything but AWESOME!!!

This movie will only be great if you take a kid to see it after reading the book with them.

Please don't be a pervert. There is nothing wrong with encouraging children to read and taking them to the movies.

So I go to imdb.com to check out the cast for this movie, and you know what happens? I get a mother f'ing pop-up ad! How? Firefox blocks all pop-ups but ones from this site apparently. Doesn't Amazon own imdb? Amazon should be ashamed of theyselves.

This is way too awesome. Where can I get this movie poster?

I, too, hope this movie doesn't suck, but I'm pretty sure I'll see it regardless of any previews. In fact, I don't want to see any previews :D

Speaking of favorite childhood classics, I heard they're making a movie from "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs". Early indications don't look to promising. But I used to love that book.

I remember hearing that Jim Carrey would be involved with Cloudy and the Chance of Meatballs. I would love to see that movie, but maybe better as a whimsical, artsy animation. There's a reason why we love the books, and sometimes we can ruin it if close attention is not paid to the ambience, visuals, look, and feeling (as opposed to the star power and budget and money-making potential)

I'm actually surprised the first trailer for CWaCoM hasn't popped up on the 'Gum yet. It looks kind of mediocre, but we've got Bill Hader and Anna Faris voicing the main characters.

And it's in THREE-DEE!
