Good Morning America Tried To Explain Twitter Today.

Just two days after Jon Stewart reported ranted about Twitter on The Daily Show, Good Morning America jumped on the Twitter wagon this morning, and the only way it could have been lamer is if they called it "The Twitter." "Tweeting is big on Twitter." Yes, indeed, tweeting is big on Twitter. It's, in fact, the only thing you can do on Twitter. Big news media Twitter stories are all terrible, but this one is particularly bad:

Ashton Kutcher wants "creps"? Not "crapes"? I'm no French speaker, but everyone I know pronounces it "crapes." This story would have been great if they had only featured Diddy's tantric sex tweets instead.

I think the Twitter Guy they interviewed takes his job too seriously.

It's spelled "crepes", but pronounced like crapes.

Actually, the French word sounds mostly like "creps," but "abcdude" doesn't really commit fully to an American or French pronunciation, so I guess he's still wrong. Either way I don't give a fuck whether Ashton Kutcher wants to eat some.

Amen. If I ever join a celebrity's Twitter account (or whatever the fuck you're supposed to do), that is the signal to drown me in the dog bowl, John Waters-style.

Actually, because Videogum is the premier website for French pronunciation and I want you guys to maintain your reputation, crêpes is pronounced "crep." No S sound. Of course, if you're speaking English, then there is absolutely no reason to pronounce it that way, just like how we say Paris (not 'Paree') and 'ordurves'. Anyone who insists on using the French pronunciation in an English conversation is an insufferable pedant.

This post brought to you by a French grad student (MY DEGREE IS FINALLY USEFUL)

I love how each news segment about twitter references/shows clips from the twitter segments that preceded it. By this time next week when the Today Show does their obligatory twitter segment, half of the 2 minutes will be completely devoted to clips from previous twitter segments.
