The Weekend Today Show People Did Karaoke In China

As part of their ongoing "Hey, can we go to China too? We'll think of some stories when we get there!" series, Weekend Today hosts Lester Holt and Jenna Wolfe investigated a popular trend in Beijing and almost everywhere else in the world: karaoke. Can you make fun of people for doing karaoke on a weekend morning show when the entire hook is that they sing bad? Yes. Can anyone BUT Jon Bon Jovi actually sing "Livin' On A Prayer" well? No:

I like Lester Holt, so I'm going to give him a pass on this one based solely on all the incredulous looks he gives to Jenna that seem to say "This is going to be on the TV set, you know." Trivia: those private karaoke rooms that are so popular everywhere now are actually where bedbugs come from!

I remember thinking as I was watching this "live" on my TV this weekend: Are they serious? This counts as Olympics coverage? Or even coverage of China? They also took precious time for Jenna Wolfe to play with the U.S. softball team. And now you know why every other minute of NBC's coverage is devoted to Michael Phelps and little girl gymnasts.
