Kid Gets Tongue Stuck To Metal Pole Like In A Christmas Story

This local news human interest report on a little embarrassed boy who imitated A Christmas Story and got his tongue stuck to a metal pole seems like it had its basis in a Craig's List ad (who would call the station about this?), but it's not often that you hear the words "triple dog dare" on the news. Poor kid:

We get it: it's really fucking cold.

Morans all around, that's for sure. On a side note, though, was this not the darndest thing? My darn radar must be malfunctioning, then, because I thought that this was at least moderately darndable.

Leave it to local news to keep hard hitting journalism alive. Great work, KSN News!

"who would call the station about this?"

You know what? I bet it was his parents. Or if it wasn't, it should have been. Because grounding and docking allowance as punishments are so 1990s. In this fast-paced era of technology and instant information transfer, what better way to punish your child than by having him admit his folly and explain what he's learned to the entire city?

The only thing worse than covering a story this stupid on the local news is covering the story of the story on your blog.

Followed closely by commenting on the coverage of the coverage of the story on said blog. Followed closely by my commenting on the comment. I win at failing.

I would have to disagree. News, whether it be in print or televised, is meant to inform people on meaningful events and this definitely would/should not qualify. Blogs like Videogum, on the other hand, are meant to entertain and i for one enjoyed this post if only to laugh at how horrible local news is.
