Steve Zahn Is The Best Late Night Talk Show Guest

thumbnail icon: Steve Zahn Is The Best Late Night Talk Show Guest

Steve Zahn is way less famous than he ought to be. For one thing, he can do comedic and dramatic acting! Double threat! And he's great in everything that he's in, even when the thing he's in is not great at all. Admittedly, he has had to put a lot of food on his family, so he's been in a lot of movies that we can just sort of pretend that he is not in. But he's also in movies that we love, right guys? Reality Bites? Rescue Dawn? Out of Sight? Shattered Glass? I have taken you to Steve Zahn Court, and I have rested my case.

Anyway, did you also know that Steve Zahn is basically the best late night talk show guest? I still remember an interview he did on Late Night with Conan, I think to promote Joy Ride? In any case, it was a long time ago, I remember, because the (now ex) wife and I were celebrating my third son (from that marriage) Brian's acceptance to Phoenix On-Line Medical Program. It was the funniest interview! I wish it was available on the Internet so that I could show it to you! Mostly he doesn't ever talk about the film he's actually there to promote. He just tells funny stories. Hahah, I LOVE FUNNY STORIES!

So, Steve Zahn was on Conan again last night, and it was great.

Seriously, if you ever hear that Steve Zahn is going to be on a late night talk show, you should watch that show!

At your leisure, of course. It's the future!

there was this one time, we stayed up way past midnight...

also, while Steve Zahn is obviously the best in general, he's no Norm Macdonald. Let's be clear on this. Norm Macdonald is the Chairman of the Bored.

I can't believe someone just made a list of great movies that Steve Zahn was in that didn't start with SAFE MEN, end with SAFE MEN, and have a generous sprinkling of SAFE MEN throughout. P.S. Hey guys, ever seen SAFE MEN? Good stuff.

Inspired by this post, I went to youtube and found an old interview Conan did with Steve Zahn in 1998 where he promoted Safe Men by yelling at the audience "Safe Men! Go see it!" What I found interesting, though, was that he and Conan spent most of their time talking about how Steve Zahn, unlike most actors in Hollywood, actually lived out in the country in western New Jersey, except instead of talking about his horse, he gave a shout out to John Deere. Eleven years ago, same topic, still fresh. Kind of wondering if all Conan's interviews with Steve Zahn reference his love of rural life...

Did you know that Steve Zahn and John Larroquette are cousins? Well that isn't true, but we could totally start a rumor, guys. We could totally start a rumor!

People like to point out that Conan is a giant, but holy crap! Rebecca Romijn Stamos Romijn is ginormous.

Oh, I also forgot to mention how funny it is that Heidi Klum feels the need to defend barnyard animals as great conversationalists.

"Just because an animal is dim-witted and doesn't even react to the most basic of intellectual stimulus doesn't mean that it isn't really cute and looks great in bras."

Basically.

Joy Ride was unintentionally hilarious. My GF will still bust out a "caaaaandy caaaaane" every now and then. Makes me laugh every time.

Oh I know! Isn't he the BEST? I remember he was on Ellen(?) years ago w the cast of Out of Sight, and nobody really knew who he was, and he was joking about how terrible the food is, in, wherever he's from - Wisconsin? Minnesota? Like, ketchup tater tot suprise casserole, I dunno you had to see it, and I just remember thinking who IS this guy? He's hilarious! Also, shut up Heidi Klum.

I adore Steve Zahn. He rocked in Saving Silverman, and I am still confused by Sahara because he got all the best lines, but Matt McConaughey got the girl. Isn't the hero supposed to get the good lines? I finally decided that MM was incapable of selling the lines, so they took the lines away from him (Alternately Steve was unwilling to end up with Penelope Cruz (Every time she said "I'm with the W-H-O" I was forced to say "the who?"), so they made MM the hero)
