Kristen Stewart Is Going To Drive To Russia

thumbnail icon: Kristen Stewart Is Going To Drive To Russia

Kristen Stewart continued her Twilight "I don't give a shit" tour last night, appearing on Letterman, who, as we might expect, does not suffer spoiled young Hollywood fools lightly. After Kristen does her insecure distancing thing ("I have a bit of an authority issue." "I'm actually really boring," etc.), Dave chastises her for not yet finishing high school and she tells him she's "entirely self-indulgent." David Letterman doesn't indulge the self-indulgent, though, so when Kristen announces with as much self-satisfaction as someone with so little charisma can muster, that as soon as she's done promoting Twilight "I'm not sure if we end up in London or Berlin but wherever we end up...I'm going to DRIVE TO RUSSIA!" Dave pauses for effect and says "I hope it's Berlin, then." And Kristen squirms confusedly while the audience roars. Most uncomfortable Letterman moment since Spencer Pratt! It's at the 5:00 mark:

She got schooled.

in defense of whoever she is, you can take your car on the chunnel. you can't drive it while you're there, but you could get in a car in london and then get out of that same car in russia mostly driving.

Yeah, of course you can drive to Russia from London, but she didn't get the distance thing.

Less a distance thing, more a WATER thing.

It's the ol' drive to Hawaii joke.

There are also pretty affordable ferries that take cars from Dover to Calais, France. I work in London and people here think nothing of driving to France just to buy booze and bring it back.

I like Letterman's new anti- young and stupid actors thing, but this is probably a bit misplaced.

This was such an awkward interview.
She needs to go back to charm school.

could she seem less enthusiastic about the movie potentially having a big opening...i am seriously struggling with the absurdly high levels of apathy and boredom which Rob and Kristin interview with. one would hope their agents would get them to seem a little more excited about life.

She's clearly nervous as heck. Seems kinda cruel to laugh at these kids who HAVE to do these appearances in order to promote their movies. It's the kinda thing they'll get better at with time and the whole schadenfreude thing, where it's all ha-ha look how much of a dunce he makes her look thing seems unnecessary.

I don't how her ears seem to have preference over her hair though. Tuck 'em away dammit.

no one is forcing these shy, delicate flowers to audition for blockbuster films based on books with insane fan followings.

i can maybe imagine not fully appreciating the magnitude of the attention you'd be receiving when you first auditioned (except not really because if you heard it was a book first, i'd think you would want to research that before the audition, but whatever) but once the movie began filming, and you started cashing the checks and signing contracts where you agree to promote your film, you don't really have permission to be a sulky jerk anymore. it's her job, man. it's the reason why she can afford a fancy lifestyle with almost no education.

sorry, kids. if celebrity is such a bummer, stick to the deep emotional satisfaction of laboring in obscurity in community theater. either that or suck it up and be a sport about it until you're not contractually obligated to do so anymore, then go back to being embarrassed on your own time.

also, seriously, kristen. finish school. geez. this shit won't last forever.

I can't believe that after he said: Let's hope for Berlin, she went: I'm actually hoping for London.

How much of a moron do you have to be?!? I mean I knew she was stupid the moment she compared Twilight to Romeo and Juliet but this is just too much even for her.

I love her disinterest in her movie in lieu of the hysteria around it. Especially because it doesn't seem a nonconformist decision as much as ignorance. She was terrible in the Today Show clip from yesterday too.

She must be pretty new to the acting scene given how candid she was in the interview.

i feel really bad for her... she doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor. but i like her movies.... she doesn't seem to do much ACTING in them - more or less just plays versions of herself.

i'm upset at letterman for this interview though. he obviously hates young people.

Good God. She's vapid and self-absorbed. Clearly she has no idea who she is. She'll be suicidal or manic depressed in no time. Just using movies to avoid having to identify and understand herself. Won't be able to avoid reality forever. Poor, poor girl.

oh come on she's 18. sure, she's no McLovin when it comes to awkward enthusiasm, but neither are most 18 year olds. especially if they somehow get caught up in a film that was a lot different than they thought it would be, I feel bad for both of them. Rpattz is very charming and kind of gets away with his befuddled 'i don't know why this book exists but i'm charming ~nervous laugh~' thing, but she hasn't got charm going for her, so she's left with moody awkward teenager.

I PEE GOLD

I agree with you on the age part but that doesn't take away the fact that she's involved in the biggest series of books/movies since Harry Potter. When it comes to her success shes the opposite of earnest, shes like tsenrae.

I know these books are big deal, and have been for some time. However, in all honesty I think the books became an even bigger deal when Cedric Diggory was cast as Edward.

Every pre-pubescent to 36 year old single woman was really Sad that Cedric Diggory died after they laid eyes on Robert Pattinson- even though most of them knew his character died before even stepping foot into the theater- Silly ladies.

As to the Kristen Stewart... Oops- she's a like every other 18 year old I know...

In total agreement with you. And she's 18, she's not quick on the uptake to explain things especially with people guffawing and not thinking it through. And I hope I'm not giving her too much credit, but I remember saying things at that age and not clearly explaining myself and thinking later... "what just happened there?"

Maybe they seem unenthusiastic because they're embarrassed. They did make a horrible movie out of an even worse book. But you know, somebody's gotta pay the rent.
