So I Guess We Have To Like Meghan McCain Now (Also: Keyboard Cat On Colbert!)
Until her appearance on Colbert last night, I was only moderately aware of John McCain's daughter Meghan. I knew she didn't totally suck, because the evil Laura Ingraham was mean to her and she told her to kiss her ass or something, but I had no idea she was, like, all pro-gay marriage and pro-sex education and surprisingly articulate for a 24-year-old platinum blond Republican heiress! That part of her interview is neat, especially the moment when she realizes she just admitted to being sexually active and says "Oh my god my Dad is going to see this!", but the best part is in the beginning when Stephen calls her out for Twittering about licking his face. Also, added bonus video: Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert lose their shit over KEYBOARD CAT!

Does embracing ideas that were way too liberal (and to some, still are) then - pro-gay marriage & pro-sex ed. - mean that she's not that conservative if conservatives still bristle at that stuff now?
But really, all I want is to not have a crush on her and not be so fixated on the age difference between her and her folks. What would my parents and her parents even to talk about?

I thought the same thing. I just got used to hating all things McCain and now his daughter has to come off as having a more than average level of common sense and possibly intelligence. Maybe the Cubs might win the World Series this year. That or Jesus will be resurrected and rapture everyone but Obama supporters, allowing for us to have all the abortions, gay marriages, and health care we want. Ironically Obama will be raptured in the second coming of Jesus.

McCain contradicts herself all the time. For someone who wants to talk about sex in a mature way, that whole interview sounded a lot more like the girls' locker room -- she giggles about her dad finding out she has a sex life and, she bashes Bristol Palin -- who is younger than her by enough that it's a little cruel.
