Sara at Best Week Ever shared the fascinating agony of this Stupid People Trick from Letterman. A lady who looks like Robin Wright Penn touches herself where nobody should touch: the inside of her eyelids:

If David Letterman is going to go down this road with Stupid Human Tricks, and he can act grossed-out all he wants but he makes the choices and he has chosen this road, might I suggest having someone on with a bad sunburn, who peels the whole thing off in one piece? Because that is just one tiny level away from this lady. Eyelid scratching is a slippery slope, Dave.

Despite this example, Letterman's video segments from the 90s are gold (particularly those featuring him shooting the shit with kids or manning the drive-thru at Taco Bell). That man is the precursor to all worthwhile internet video.
