I tried to avoid watching this because I was pre-bored of the latest Perez Hilton thing before it even happened, but Kelly Clarkson did this interview this morning with some predatory radio station DJ doing that thing where they try to get celebrities to comment on the private lives of other celebrities, and she just WENT FOR IT and genuinely laughed in the most sincere and truly amused way at Perez in a way only a pop star who isn't a gigantic hole of need can confidently do. Kelly is actually generous about Fergie, but for contrast, remember this whole thing started with Fergie, a 34-year-old professional woman, confronting the internet's village idiot for drawing on photos of her. Kelly Clarkson is the best:

No, it actually is not very good. Comparing Perez Hilton to Rhianna and Matthew Sheppard? Are you kidding? What is wrong with you that you don't understand how things are?
No one deserves to be punched in the face, but no one deserves to be ridiculed and humiliated in the way that Perez does for all his idiotic readers. Even going to his site gives him pageviews, so declining to do so will help at least a little bit.

Either way, besides the point, personally I think yes, it's not surprising that Perez was punched in the face. However, the whole "he had it coming" is kind of a slippery slope. A lot of guys say this about rape victims that dressed provocatively.
I think the biggest mistake Perez made is addressing this in the media. He really should have not said anything at all about the assault, but ceased coverage of everything related to BEP. This poor me thing is really hurting his "I don't give a fucking shit!" branding.
Like it or not, Perez gets around 10 million hits a day... he's not going anywhere, it's a free service. Even though he isn't well liked, people who hate him (including myself) regularly check his blog. The biggest punishment he could deal is making it seem like the BEPs don't exist. Instead, he's giving them massive fucking press...

Sounds a little sadistic. If I hate something, I don't force myself to endure it unless I absolutely have to. I haven't been to PH's site for at least a year because there is absolutely nothing of value to find there and any "news" is on other sites first.
Meanwhile, I'm not sure "he had it coming" but there are some things you don't do. You don't shout fire in a crowded theater, for example, and then bitch about getting trampled. Using certain words evokes a reaction and right or wrong that's just the way it is.

I've actually "followed" Kelly's career since the first AI...she just seemed so cool and down-to-earth. In the years since, she's totally not changed. She gets fat, and doesn't appear on US two weeks later talking about it (see: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Tyra, etc.).

After watching that long 12 min video of Perez explaining his side of the story, I wanted to laugh because of how ridiculous he made the situation.
